Duane E. Wallace, 71, of Cuba and formerly of Friendship, NY
Duane E. Wallace, of Cuba and formerly of Friendship, NY, passed away peacefully Thursday, January 11, 2024 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a brief illness.
Born on April 23, 1951, in Wellsville, he was the son of Lew and Leona Kuhn Wallace. On April 24, 1996, in Cuba, he married Vicki D. Winchell and they shared 28 years of marriage.
Duane was a graduate of Friendship High School class of 1969 and started driving a truck for Olean Wholesale Grocery CO-OP in July 1979 until he retired in July 2018. After retirement, he couldn’t sit still and went back to work at the Valero car wash in Cuba NY to keep himself busy.
Duane loved driving the “Big Truck” and talking to the people he met on his route or at the warehouse. He spent his free time buying cars at the auction with friends, fishing with family, watching the Winston Cup races, and traveling to Martinsville Speedway, Coca-Cola 600, Watkins Glen, and Dover. He was an avid Buffalo Bills Fan, loved his family, and ensured the little ones paid attention or got the “boot”.
He is survived by his wife Vicki. His sister Linda (Craig) Lowe, and his sons Kevin (Dawn) Wallace, Todd (Charity) Wallace, Kyle (Jessica) Farwell, Ryan (Megan) Farwell, and other cousins, nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his father and mother, Duane was predeceased by his sister Mary Anne Barrett.
At Duane’s request no services will be held because he would never want to inconvenience anyone or want anyone to feel sad thinking about him. Instead remember his laughter, kindness, and years of friendship.
Memorials can be made at the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are under direction of the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc., Cuba.
