Dolores Maxine Schultz, a beacon of kindness and strength, passed away

peacefully on August 9, 2026. Born on February 17, 1932, in Jackson Center,

Ohio, Dolores was the cherished daughter of Derrole A. Miller and Rhea

Leatta (Butler) Miller.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband,

Roland L. Schultz, her parents, and her brother, Derrole Eugene Miller.

She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication through her children, Michele D.

(Tom) Alfieri-Causer and Dr. Denise (Dave) Welker, and continues to be

cherished by her grandchildren, Alexandra (Scott) Foust, Tyler Gutman, Laura

Gutman, Felicia Alfieri (Christian Kasilag), and Dominic Alfieri, as well as her

great-grandchildren, Owen Gutman, Frederick Foust, and Lyra Foust.

Dolores was a proud graduate of Shawnee High School in Lima, Ohio, and

furthered her education at The Ohio State University, where she earned a

Bachelor of Science in Education. Her passion for teaching led her to obtain

two Master’s degrees in Education from Wright State University. Dolores

dedicated her career to nurturing young minds in the Piqua City Schools,

where she taught grades 4, 5, and 6. She was instrumental in implementing

the Gifted Program and Project Discovery, initiatives that enriched the lives

of countless students. Her commitment to education extended beyond the

classroom as she organized memorable trips to Niagara Falls, fostering a

sense of wonder and exploration.

A woman of many talents, Dolores was a devoted member of the Order of

the Eastern Star for 76 years, sharing her musical gifts as an organist and

earning state-wide recognition for her work. Her love for music also

resonated through her service as the organist for St. Paul’s United Church of

Christ in Sidney, Ohio, and later in Piqua, Ohio, where she became an active

member of the church community.

Dolores found joy in the simple pleasures of life, from tending to her garden

to creating beautiful arts and crafts. Her culinary skills were particularly

celebrated during the holidays, when she delighted family and friends with

her cooking. Known for her warm smile and indomitable spirit, Dolores was a

source of encouragement and positivity, touching the lives of everyone she

met with her genuine care and compassion.

Even in the face of profound personal loss, Dolores exemplified resilience and

courage. After the passing of her brother, mother, and husband in close

succession, she continued to embrace life with optimism and moved to

Pennsylvania to live with her daughter, Michele. There, she forged new

friendships and remained active in her community through the local Garden

Club and the Red Hat Society.

A graveside service to honor the life of Dolores Maxine Schultz will be held

on August 14, 2026, at 3:00 PM at Forest Hill Cemetery, located at 8660 N.

St. Rt.. 66, Piqua, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly suggests that

donations be made to St. Paul’s Church, 500 N. Downing St, Piqua, OH.

Dolores’s life was a testament to the beauty of kindness, resilience, and the

enduring power of love. She will be deeply missed but forever remembered

in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.
