Coudersport Rotary Press Release
On June 9, 2025, Rotarian Brad Rinehart introduced as his guest, Doug Tusker, who owns the Austin Family Campground at Nelson Run, his son, Mason, who is Operations Manager and daughter, Britta, who is Program Director.
Doug described himself as “recovering” from 30 years in international business administration, inventory and plant operations management.
Mason is in charge of grounds maintenance, and orders supplies for the store.
Britta used to teach cub scouts, and organizes activities such as rock painting, tie-dying and duck races. She said there will be a Ladies’ Getaway August 8-10, open to all, which will offer wine tasting, outdoor shelter building, and wellness programs.
They purchased and opened the campground in 2024. There are 32 acres, 22 of which are developed, with 118 campsites for RV’s and tents, plus 7 rentals. Water and electric hookups are available. The premises are kept very clean. There is a modern bathhouse, playground and pavilion but no pool or zip line due to insurance issues. They are open April through November. Magnets to their location are nostalgia, wildlife and nature, and stargazing.
In 2024 they had 1100 visitors to the camp. They invite us to visit in person.
Thank you, Doug, Mason, and Britta, for your informative and interesting introduction to the Austin Campground!
