Dennis Jay Furman, 63, of Austin, passed away unexpectedly at work in Summit Township on Tuesday, February 4, 2025.

Daniel E. “Dan” HALL, 80, of Wellsville, NY, died peacefully in his home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, with his wife, Diane, by his side. Born in Detroit, MI, Dan was the second of five children. Surviving besides his wife, Diane, are: his brothers, Robert (Bea) Hall, Gregory (Marge) Hall, and Kenneth (Vicki) Hall; a sister, Deanna (John) Coyle; friend and former wife, Elsa Bekkala, who was also special to him. Dan cherished the young people in his life, including Diane’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his nephews and nieces; a Little Brother, Christopher; and two exchange students, Nat and Jung.
Dan was always a newsman. He started a short-lived neighborhood tabloid when he was ten years old. He was editor of his college newspaper. The majority of his career was with Gannett Newspapers, primarily in Rochester and primarily on the editorial pages. He finished his career at the Canandaigua Messenger Post, where he was editorial page editor.
William M. “Bill” Giltinan, 98, passed away peacefully on Wednesday morning, February 5, 2025, at Menno Haven Health Center, Chambersburg, PA., after spending 7 years at Village Square assisted living. He was born April 14, 1926, in Warren, PA. to the late Marcus and Alice Fagley Giltinan. Bill was a longtime resident of Warren, moving to Chambersburg, PA., to his daughter and family. Bill was a 1944 graduate of Warren High School. Bill was employed with GTE Sylvania as a die maker until his retirement in 1987. Bill met the love of his life at a Sylvania Company picnic. They were married on July 16, 1949. Jeanne preceded him in death on September 25, 2017.
After surviving polio as a child, Bill went on to live a very active life, becoming an avid hunter and fisherman. He was an active member of the Warren Council of the Knights of Columbus and Holy Redeemer Parish, while living in Warren. Bill and Jeanne enjoyed camping and spending their winters in Palm Bay, FL.
Sally K. Drabert, 80, of Smethport, passed away Wednesday (February 5, 2025) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.
She was born October 16, 1944 in Olean, NY, the daughter of Kenneth and Ida (Turner) Norton. She was married to Jack D. Drabert, who died in June of 1996.
Mrs. Drabert was a Port Allegany High School graduate and was house keeping supervisor at Charles Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, PA.
Carolyn A. Mosgrove: Loving Mother and Grandmother
Carolyn A. Mosgrove, 83, of Cuba, New York passed away Friday, January 31, 2025 at Cuba Memorial Hospital’s Palliative Care Unit after a lengthy illness.
Born on August 7, 1941, in Somerset, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of Basil and Beryl Chace Brundage.
Carolyn was a graduate of Scio Central School and Alfred State College with a degree in Business Administration.
Prior to marriage she worked as a Flight Stewardess for United Airlines. While her children were young, she was a stay-at-home mother. After raising her children, she went to work as a medical receptionist for Dr. Taylor and Dr. Lawrence’s Medical practices. When she relocated to Florida, she continued in the medical field as a billing receptionist, prior to her retirement.
Joseph “Joe” Duell, 67, of Knotts Island, NC, left us peacefully on January 27, 2025. He was a cherished son, brother, father, uncle, grandfather, and friend, whose loyalty and thoughtful nature left an impact on all who knew him.
Born on March 21, 1957, in Giessen, Germany, Joe was the son of Helga (Pitz) Duell and Judson R. Duell II, formerly of Coudersport, PA. Joe’s journey brought him from his early beginnings overseas to Coudersport, PA when he was 10 years old. Being part of a military family, he eventually relocated to Dunn, NC and graduated from Dunn High School. Joe then went on to join the Army at the age of 18, where he proudly dedicated his time and energy to serving his country. Following his military career, Joe lived in Williamsport, PA where his strong work ethic was displayed through his commitment to his career and to his family. He was also a member of the Eulalia Masonic Lodge #342.
He found joy in the simple pleasures of life— sitting on the porch listening to the birds chirping in the morning, spending time with his beloved cat, Squirrelly, and relaxing with a cold Miller Lite. He also loved watching a good football game and held Penn State football and the Pittsburgh Steelers close to his heart.
Sylvia J. Wurst, 76, of Russell, PA, left this world unexpectedly on Saturday, February 1, 2025, to move to her heavenly home.
She was born in Warren, PA, on August 1, 1948, the daughter of the late John and Kathryn Niedzialek. Sylvia was a graduate of Warren Area High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Mansfield University. She taught 3rd Grade at both North Warren Elementary and Russell Elementary Schools. After years of teaching, Sylvia retired and worked a few years with Beacon Light, working one on one with challenged youth.
James W. SATTAZAHN, 76, of Roulette, PA, formerly of Mechanicsburg, died Thursday, January 30, 2025 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born February 15,1948, in Philadelphia, he was the son of William W. and Florence Kerr Sattazahn. A 1965 graduate of Olney High School in Philadelphia, he served honorably with the US Army. He served as a PA State Trooper from July 1972 – August 2007, retiring as Corporal. Jim was a member of the HASH 5 Running Club in Harrisburg, a life member of the National Fraternal Order of Police, and a life member of the Harley Owners Group. He enjoyed riding his Harley with his motorcycle club, Road Dawgs. Jim also enjoyed playing ice hockey with his PSP team and playing rugby all over the world, then refereeing for years after he couldn’t play. He loved his Philadelphia sports teams, the Eagles and the Phillies. Jim will be remembered for his love of American History.
Ivan A. Wehler, 98, a resident of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of S. Michael Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 3, 2025, at Pinecrest Manor with his family by his side.
He was born on January 3, 1927 in St. Marys, PA, a son of the late Jost and Anna Caskey Wehler. On June 16, 1945, he married the late Dorothy McAllister, who preceded him in death on August 3, 2024. Together they walked hand in hand into Heaven and were blessed to share more than 79 years of love, laughter and marriage.
Ivan was a lifelong member of Queen of the World Church and retired from Keystone Carbon Company after more than 46 years of service. He was a veteran of WWII, proudly serving in the United States Navy and was a member of the American Legion. A hard-working, dedicated and caring husband, father, and grandfather, Ivan often worked three jobs to care for his family. Ivan greatly enjoyed sharing his musical talents around town and with the residents of the local nursing homes, always enjoyed bringing a smile to people’s faces.
Patricia E. Causer, 94, of 200 St. Francis Drive, Bradford, passed away Monday, February 3, 2025, at the Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born on August 4, 1930, in Olean NY, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Marie (McGavisk) Cooney. She was a 1948 graduate of Smethport High School.
On August 13, 1949, she married Norman W. Causer, who passed away on February 25, 2006.
Pat resided in Coleville for many years and attended St. Elizabeth Church until 2004. She moved to Bradford in 2004 and was a member of St. Bernard Church. She enjoyed restoring furniture and excelled at baking.

Lawrence M. WALINSKI, 61, of Fillmore, NY, died Wednesday, January 29, 2025 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville. Born August 21, 1963, in Buffalo, he was the son of Zygmund and AnnMarie Wesolowski Walinski.
He attended Sweet Home High School and was employed by 3M as a machine operator for many years.
Mary E. Himes, 103, of Pinecrest Manor and formerly of Boot Jack Rd., Ridgway, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025.
She was born on June 18, 1921, in Hallton, a daughter of the late Harry M. and Ruby E. Simmerline Lindsey.
On August 31, 1939, She married the late William Wade Himes Sr., who preceded her in death on March 28, 2002. Together they shared over 62 years of love and marriage.
Thomas D. Jones, 73, of Liberty, passed away Tuesday January 28, 2025, at Bradford Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Troy.
He was born October 12, 1951, in Williamsport, PA to Thomas William and Evelyn Louise (Mase) Jones. He earned his bachelor’s degree from East Stroudsburg University, and served as a probation officer in Tioga County.
On August 3, 1991, Tom married Deborah Wesner, with whom he shared 33 years of marriage.
Nancy Y. Gleason, 91, of 36 Rockland Avenue, Bradford, passed away Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born March 3, 1933, in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of the late Donald R. and Ruth (Rogers) Young. She was a 1950 graduate from Mt. Jewett High School.
On December 26, 1953, in St. Francis Church, she married Francis E. “Nut” Gleason, Sr., who died April 9, 2015.
Nancy was employed at Dresser Manufacturing. She also owned and operated along with Rusty Hetrick, Four Seasons Sports Store.
She was a member of St. Bernard Church. She was an avid Bridge player at the Local, State, and National level earning a Life, Bronze, Silver, Ruby, and Gold Life Master along with being a Director.
Patricia Graziano Donato Rice, 85, of Warren, PA., died Saturday February 1, 2025, at The Rouse Home after an extended illness.
She was born November 8, 1939, in Warren, PA. She was the daughter of Peter and Helyn Morley Graziano. Patricia was a lifelong Warren area resident and a 1957 graduate of Warren High School. She was employed with G.T.E. Sylvania from 1965 to 1973, Struthers Wells Corporation from 1973 to 1990 and at the Warren County Assistance Office from 1990 until 2002, retiring from there after 13 years employment. She worked part time with Northwest Savings Bank. Patricia was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church. She was an avid reader.
Joseph W. “Bill” Schaefer, Jr., 82, of Teaberry Road, St. Marys, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, February 1, 2025 with his family by his side.
He was born December 10, 1942 in St. Marys, a son of the late J. W. “Bill” Schaefer, Sr. and Viola Young Schaefer.
On November 20, 1965 in Queen of the World Church, Bill married Doris Ann Olson, who survives and together they have enjoyed 59 years of marriage.
Bill was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Central High School Class of 1960. He was a member of Queen of the World Church.
John James Bechakas, 88, of 322 Dawson St., died Tuesday (Jan. 28) in Clearwater Beach, FL. He was born October 21, 1936 in Kane, son of the late James T. and Aglaia Tzivelis Bechakas. On May 31, 1964 in Siatista, Greece he married the former Toula Sfendonis, who survives.
He graduated from Kane High School in 1955 and Grove City College in 1959. He served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1962 stationed in Munich, Germany.
After working several years as an accountant the deceased in 1967 formed a partnership with his brother Terry in the family business. After his brother’s retirement in 1989 John, along with his wife and four sons, continued, expanded and renovated the 1914 family business – Texas Hot Lunch / 4-Sons. He also was instrumental in starting Kane Beer in 1997.
Clarence R. Frederick, 85, of Pleasant Township, Warren, PA., died peacefully Friday morning, January 31, 2025, at Warren Manor Nursing Home, after an extended illness.
Clarence was born September 2, 1939, in Warren, PA. He was the son of RD and Buelah Geraldine Smith Frederick. He was a lifelong Warren area resident. Clarence was a 1957 graduate of Warren High School. He was employed with the former Rexnord, Inc., retiring from there after many years employment.
Donald E. Moore, 66, of Warren, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 30 at UPMC Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh with his loving family by his bedside. Don was born March 1, 1958, to Donna and Eugene Moore of Clarendon who survive him. He was a 1976 graduate of Warren Area High School and a 1978 graduate of Pitt Bradford.

Veryl A. Yetzer Billick, 92, of Ridgway, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Penn Highlands Brookville, following a lengthy illness.
She was born on December 7, 1932, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Joseph and Kathryn Wilson Papa.
Veryl was a graduate of Ridgway High School and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. She worked many years at Quality Components, then worked at the Prothonotary office in the Elk County Courthouse.
Veryl dedicated her life to her family, finding immense joy in the company of her beloved grandchildren. She took great pride in babysitting them, nurturing their spirits and fostering their dreams, all while creating a tapestry of cherished memories that will live on in their hearts.
Veryl is survived by her husband of 26 years, Robert Billick, 3 children: Thomas Yetzer and his wife Joanie of Ithaca, NY, Doug Yetzer and his wife Mary Jo of Ridgway, and Jill Brennen of St. Marys, 4 grandchildren: Lauren (Marc), Andrew (Jeff), Ryan (Morgan), and Dana (Zachary), and 4 greatgrandchildren: Sophia, Max, Henry, and Marcus. She is also survived by a sister, Helen Streich of TX, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by 3 sisters: Shirley Anderson, Joyce Amacher, and Janice Casolo, and a brother, Joseph Papa.
Funeral Service for Veryl A. Yetzer Billick will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, at Trinity United Methodist Church, 19 S. Broad Street, Ridgway, PA, 15853, with Pastor Matthew Williams officiating.
Burial will follow at Parklawn Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, at Krise Funeral Home, 130 Center Street, Ridgway, PA, from 9:30 until 10:30.
