Mia Anderson of the Green Free Library is presenting a Deane Little Beans program next Saturday, March 14 from noon to 1 p.m. in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
Every Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., Anderson hosts the library’s Storytime with Miss Mia for 1- to 5-year-olds. There is a waiting list.
The free March 14 Deane Little Beans event for children ages 3 to 12 is offering an interactive literacy-focused experience that encourages a love of reading and learning. Free snacks will be provided.

RIDGWAY, PA: The North Central Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission (North Central) is inviting residents, businesses, and community leaders to participate in a short public survey to help shape the region’s 2026–2030 Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS).
The CEDS serves as the region’s economic roadmap, guiding priorities for workforce development, infrastructure investment, business growth, housing, innovation, and regional collaboration across Cameron, Clearfield, Elk, Jefferson, McKean, and Potter Counties. The strategy also ensures the region remains eligible for federal funding assistance through the U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA).

At 354 PM EST, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado was located over Sheffield, moving east at 60 mph.

Larry and Phyllis Hamilton were recently honored at an open house celebrating their retirement after more than 45 years of dedication to Hamilton’s Maple Farm in Ulysses! This family-owned and operated business has been producing maple syrup for more than 12 decades. In honor of the occasion, Rep. Martin Causer (R-Cameron/McKean/Potter) presented the Hamiltons with a congratulatory citation from the Pennsylvania House of Representatives. Maple production will continue at the farm under the leadership of the next generation of Hamiltons, with Marshall and Deborah at the helm.

WARREN – Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) is partnering with the Barbara Moscato Memorial Library, located at 27 West 4th Street in Emporium, to offer Art Adventures, an art series for children ages five-and-up and their caregivers. This series, composed entirely of free courses, will begin in April and continue through the summer.
Participants will learn about a famous artist and explore a new art medium each month. Sessions include acrylic painting inspired by Claude Monet, clay sculpting inspired by Michelangelo, polka dot art inspired by Yayoi Kusama, and printmaking inspired by Albrecht Dürer. Author Bill Robertson to Present Free Golden Afternoons Program about The American Revolutionary War This Coming Tuesday, March 10
William P. “Bill” Robertson of Duke Center in McKean County, PA will present information about American Revolutionary War battles from two books he has written during the free Golden Afternoons program at 1 p.m. this coming Tuesday, March 10 in the lobby at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
This program is free. Anyone who is 65 years of age or older is welcome to attend. Free refreshments will be provided.

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) placed a radar-controlled speed display board this week on Route 770 in Bradford Township, McKean County. It is intended to remind drivers to obey the posted speed limit and reduce speeding, a common type of aggressive driving behavior.
This board faces westbound traffic on Route 770 between Route 4005 (High Street) and Creekside Drive in a 45 mile per hour zone. The board utilizes radar to determine the speeds of oncoming traffic and posts them to the lighted section of the sign. The board will remain in place for four to six weeks.
