The McKean County Community Foundation awarded a 2023 grant to Beacon Light to support construction of a new playground. McKean nonprofits are invited to apply for a new round of grants with an application deadline of August 6, 2024.
The Coudersport Senior Center is holding a hot dog meal fundraiser on Monday, July 15 th
beginning at 5:30 p.m. They are located at 200 West Chestnut Street in the former Calvary
Baptist Church.
Your meal will include a hot dog, bag of chips and a drink for only $5.00. Homemade
cookies will also be for sale only $1 per bag. All profits go towards the Coudersport Senior
Center’s operating expenses.
Then later in the evening, head over to the Coudersport Arboretum. Fickinger Funeral
Home is sponsoring the Faith Night movie “Miracles From Heaven”.
The movie is free of charge and popcorn is provided. The movie will start at dusk.

Harrisburg, PA – Today, the Department of Human Services (DHS) Secretary Dr. Val Arkoosh and Department of Health (DOH) Secretary Dr. Debra Bogen togethercelebrated the renaming of their shared building as the Health and Human Services Building. The new name removes the outdated language of the former “Health and Welfare” building and replaces it with the Department of Human Services’ current title to create a cohesive branding for both Departments.

Emilie Edick of Portville, Grace Haynes of Olean and Olivia Graham of Allegany-Limestone received the Carroll Swanson Memorial Scholarship for the Performing Arts for $200 each.

Coudersport, Pa., July 9, 2024 – UPMC welcomes Pawan Solanki, M.D., to the pain management team in Coudersport. Dr. Solanki will also support the pain management team in Bradford by providing appointments via telehealth.
Dr. Solanki obtained his medical degree at Northeast Ohio Medical University, Rootstown, Ohio, and completed his anesthesiology residency at the University at Buffalo, Buffalo, N.Y. Most recently, Dr. Solanki completed a fellowship in chronic pain medicine with UPMC in Pittsburgh.
“Moving from an urban area, I am eager to bring my experience to a more rural setting, where I believe the opportunity for personalized patient care is immense,” said Dr. Solanki. “I look forward to building strong relationships and providing comprehensive care to help our patients lead healthier, more comfortable lives.”

Clearfield, PA –The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) alerted motorists that a Potter County box culvert replacement project will begin Monday, July 15.
Starting July 15, PennDOT will close this section of Route 3001 and a detour using Route 44 (Coudersport Pike), Route 6 (Grand Army of the Republic Highway), and Route 872 (Inez Road) will be in place. The closure and detour are expected to be in effect through July 26. Residents along Route 3001 will be able to access their homes during the closure.
This is a joint effort between PennDOT Potter County maintenance forces and Nestlerode Contracting Co Inc., of Lock Haven, PA. PennDOT crews arrived Monday, July 8, to begin the excavation work while the contractor will set the box culvert. This project has a $251,429 value.
