The Ninth Annual Benefit for Homeless Animals, organized by Jerry and Helen Gaye of Osceola and held at the Knoxville VFW at 703 Boatman Road in Knoxville, Pa. this past Saturday, Oct. 7, raised $2,975 in cash for Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries’ Heading Home Center at 725 Gee Road in Middlebury Township.

Also donated were 150 pounds of dog food, several bags and cases of cat food, and cleaning supplies, valued at approximately $300 bringing the total contribution to $3,275. Pictured (from left to right) are: Helen and Jerry Gaye; representatives of Second Chance Animal Sanctuaries Sue Cook and Jim Howe; and Joe and Diane Brownell.

The Gayes play a major role in preparing for the benefit as well as when it is actually held. The Brownells assist them.
