Barbara L. Remington, 86, a resident of the Bradford Ecumenical Home, passed away Saturday, August 1, 2026, at Olean General Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She will be loved and missed.
Born on November 12, 1939, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Albert W. and Louella (Keyes) Troutman. She was one of six kids and was the last surviving member of the Troutman family.
She attended Bradford Area high School.
On April 18, 1980, she married Donald F. Remington. They lived in Limestone, NY for many years. Donald preceded her in death on August 21, 2002.
Barb worked at Zippo Manufacturing on Barbour St. before transferring to the plant on Congress St., where she retired from in 2003 after 39 years of service. She had various cleaning jobs also while she worked at Zippo.
She loved bingo, shooting skeet, bowling and she enjoyed crocheting and knitting mittens and scarves for her family. In her retirement she enjoyed gardening and spending time with her grandchildren.
Surviving are two two daughters, Joan Ransom, and Pamela Galati, both of Bradford, two grandchildren, Jason (Nikki) Ransom and Jamie Ransom, four great grandchildren, Jared (Des Luce) ALexander, Jaden (Layla Lamberson) ALexander, all of Bradford, Claire (Dylan Shultz) Ransom, of St. Augustine FL, Zayden Ransom, of Andover NY, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Betty Baker, and Bonny Oaks, three brothers, Brooks Troutman, Beverly Troutman, and Bill Troutman, one great grandson, Jesse R. Alexander and one stepson, Danny Remington, and three nephews.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 14, 2026, from 4 to 6pm at Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 South Avenue, followed by funeral services at 6pm with Major Mike Smith, of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial will be in Willow Dale Cemetery.
