VOCAL ENSEMBLE TO MARK SEASON WITH SONGS
The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Vocal Arts Ensemble will perform a selection of holiday favorites at a concert at noon Nov. 30 in the Harriett B. Wick Chapel on the Pitt-Bradford campus.
The concert is free and open to the public.
Under the direction of Regina Gabriel, the ensemble’s songs will include “Winter Wonderland,” “Chantons Noël,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Let Us Pray for Peace” and “Do You Hear What I Hear?” The group will also lead a sing-along with audience members.

Barbara J. Patterson, 87, of Elk Haven, died on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, at Penn Highlands Elk after a brief illness.
She was born on September 14, 1936, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Henry and Emma Weisenfluh Gardner.
On May 29, 1958, she married the late Charles E. Patterson, who preceded her in death on January 3, 2023.
Barb was a lifelong member of the area and a member of the St. Marys Methodist Church. She was very family-oriented and loved to spend time with her family. Barb enjoyed reading and cooking a big meal for her family.
Student Of The Week Bennett Harris
Bennett Harris is a senior in his third year of the Seneca Highlands welding program. Bennett is a very respectable young man and will be a great asset wherever he chooses to go in the future. His attendance and work ethic are both great along with the work he produces. Bennett has shown good leadership skills in the shop and will be participating in Skills USA this year, along with achieving a spot in the National Technical Honor Society for the second year.

McKean County hunters will have a good opportunity to harvest a doe or a buck when the regular Pennsylvania two-week rifle deer season opens up on Saturday, November 25th.
The overall deer population has been on the increase over the past ten years in McKean County, and in the past two or three years that has become obvious to most of the people who live or hunt here.
Twenty-three years ago under the guidance of Wildlife Biologist Gary Alt the Pennsylvania Game Commission encouraged and enabled hunters to harvest more antlerless deer to allow the forests in McKean County to recover some of its natural deer habitat. It worked. Deer numbers were down from 2005 to 2012 with lower levels of deer than most people or hunters saw in the past 70 to 80 years in this area. But now the deer have made a comeback.

Scammers claiming to be from the PA Treasury have been calling participants in the Property Tax/Rent Rebate Program and asking for bank account information in an effort to steal valuable personal data.
You should know that no one from the state will ever call and ask for bank information for this program. In this scam, the caller claims the information is needed so a rebate payment can be made by direct deposit.
Remember, you should never give out your bank account information or other personal financial information simply because someone calls and asks for it.
The best way to contact the PA Treasury with questions about a rebate is with the form available at www.patreasury.gov/contact.

Tonight, crews loaded up and headed to Kightlingers Salvage for the Fall vehicle extrication company training. Members continued to gain proficiency and expand on their skills extricating trapped victims from vehicle accidents.
Thank you to the members for spending their night in the pouring rain for training, and thank you to Kightlingers for once again use of their facility.
