…AREAS OF FREEZING DRIZZLE POSSIBLE THROUGH 2 AM THURSDAY…

A cold front that was crossing Lake Erie and Eastern Ohio this
Wednesday evening was helping to produce clouds containing small,
super-cooled water droplets.
As these droplets fall and come in contact with the cold ground,
where temperatures were in the upper 20s to low 30s, they will
freeze and could create a hazardous, thin layer of black ice on
from freezing drizzle.
Thicker and colder clouds spreading in behind the cold front will
cause a changeover to flurries and snow showers around or shortly
after midnight across the Northwest Mountains of the state. Up to
one inch of snow accumulation is possible by daybreak Thursday.
Motorists should exercise caution and be prepared for potentially
slick travel on untreated roads, bridges, and overpasses,
especially across the ridge tops where sub-freezing surface
temperatures will be most likely.
