Urma R. Rinker: Loving Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend.
Urma R. Rinker, 81, of 4338 State Route 305 South, Cuba, passed away unexpectedly Monday, August 12, 2024 at home.
Born on September 11, 1942, Wellsville, New York she was a daughter of Lawrence W. and Helen C. Walter Harmon.
Urma was a graduate of Richburg Central School. She had been employed by Acme Electric Corp. of Cuba for many years prior to her retirement.
She like to read, pink and purple were her favorite colors, the rose was her favorite flower and spending time her family and friends brought her endless joy. She looked forward to the monthly Acme retirement luncheons and connecting with her past coworkers, riding through the country and watching the wildlife from her front porch. Throughout her life she was a true animal lover and raised many cats that brought her great joy.

William A. “Bill” Tillotson, age 71, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Monday, August 12, 2024.
He was born on June 14, 1953 in Blossburg, PA, a son of the late Robert and Doris (Smith) Tillotson and was married to Sandy L. (Clark) Tillotson. Bill was formerly employed by Dietrich’s Milk Products, Middlebury Center, PA. He was a member of the REMF, the MCH hunting club, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, working on farms and was a football and baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife: Sandy Tillotson of Wellsboro, PA, stepsons: Tom (Beverly) Cleveland, Kevin Cleveland, both of Wellsboro, PA, step-daughter: Tammie (George) Hill of Wellsboro, PA, brother: Robert (Ursula) Tillotson of Germany, sister: Sherry Brooks of Wellsboro, PA, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by sisters: Viola Gorda, Roberta Dixon and a brother: Paul Tillotson.
A private family service will be held at a later date.

Edith J. (Greener) Metarko, age 91, formerly of Wellsboro, PA, died on Saturday, August 10, 2024.
She was born on September 6, 1932 in Philadelphia (Germantown), PA, a daughter of the late Raymond R. Greener and Helen E. (Riday) Franck. She was married for 67 years to Robert P. “Bob” Metarko and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

DarleneF. Lathrop, 79, of Port Allegany, passed away on Monday (August 12, 2024) at her home in Port Allegany, surrounded by her family.
She was born August 24, 1944 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Clarence R, “Bob” and Dorothy (Hobbs) Niles.On December 7, 1978 in Port Allegany she married Richard G. Lathrop, who survives.
Mrs. Lathrop graduated form Port Allegany High School in 1962 and Bradford Nursing School in 1963.
Susan Marie Geist Bailey, age 65 of Westfield passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born April 15, 1959 in Norristown, PA, she was the daughter of the late Michael P. and Florence M. (Tustin) Phillips. Susan retired from Viant and enjoyed gardening, crafting (especially with gourds), cooking and entertaining. She loved spending time with her family.
Harold J. OUTMAN, Sr., 82, of Genesee, PA, died Saturday, August 10, 2024 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, PA. Born April 29, 1942, in Coudersport, he was the son of Hubert and Nettie Button Outman.
District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that, following a sentencing hearing at the McKean County Courthouse, Anthony FENTON, previously convicted of Murder in the 3rd degree for causing the death of his girlfriend Tammy Prosser, was sentenced to 18 years to 36 years plus 1 year of consecutive reentry supervision.
Judge Kistler, specially presiding over the trial and sentencing, heard argument and testimony from the victim’s mother about the crime before imposing the sentencing. Letters were submitted by the victim’s two sisters and argument was made by the District Attorney for the maximum sentence. FENTON was convicted of Criminal Homicide – Murder 3; Aggravated Assault; Simple Assault; and Recklessly Endangering Another Person after a jury trial in June.

Beatrice I. “Bea” West, 92, of Millport, left this earthly journey and entered her heavenly rest on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
Born on Friday, December 18, 1931 in Rixford, she was a daughter of Clayton and Helen Holcomb Lawton. On August 16, 1958, she married her beloved husband, Burdett E. West, who passed away on March 18, 2009.
Bea was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1949 and a graduate of Arnot Ogden Hospital School of Nursing in 1952. Bea worked for several years as an industrial nurse prior to returning to her hometown. She later worked for the former St. Francis Hospital in Olean and for the Olean General Hospital, ending her nursing career at Hewitt Manor Nursing Home in Shinglehouse. She also worked for many years beside her husband in establishing the West Brother’s family business, Gas Field Specialists, where she was the office supervisor until her retirement.
The Port Allegany Rotary club learned about the solar eclipse from retired science teacher, Rick Smith. Mr. Smith attended the regular weekly meeting of the club held at the Port Allegany Moose Lodge. He was the guest of Ki Bayline. Winner of the 50/50 was Mary Mensch

Eddie’s on Main hosted a Meet and Greet for Port Allegany School District’s new superintendent, faculty and staff held at Eddie’s on Main Patio. Replacing Gary Buchsen who retired at the end of the school year, Mrs. Newell came from the Valdez City Schools in Alaska and served as the Director of Teaching and Learning. Mr. Oliver was transferred from the assistant principal/student services coordinator to the elementary replacing Tracy Kio who retired.
Replacing Mr. Oliver is Mrs. Bostjancic. She is a graduate of Slippery Rock University and earned her master’s degree from Edinboro University. She has worked previously as a special education teacher and supervisor.
The event was well attended and members of the community expressed appreciation to Eddie’s on Main for the opportunity to meet the 2024-2025 school administration and staff. School starts for students on August 21.
The Port Allegany Women’s Club welcomed musical artists Jon Meade and Dan Roche at the most recent COTS The concert was once again held at the Gethsemane Lutheran Church Educational Unit due to weather. This week’s concert artist has yet to be determined. The following week, the event will once again be held on the Town Square following the Grand Opening which will begin at 5 p.m. Music will be provided by Randy Andreano. The PAWC will be hosting an Ice Cream Social during the grand opening ceremonies and the concert.
Berdina M. Dunn “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”
Berdina M. Dunn, 70, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Sena Kean Manor, Smethport, after a short illness.
Born on Wednesday, December 9, 1953 in Cuba, NY, she was a daughter of Malcolm and Marjorie Burch Woodkirk. On December 16, 1979 in the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church, she married Arthur M. Dunn, who survives.
Berdina was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School in Shinglehouse. She was first employed at Galeton Production in Galeton and later by the former Market Basket in Shinglehouse. She retired from Northwest in Shinglehouse where she served as a bank teller for almost 30 years.
