U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced today that Janine McKenney, 42, of Olean, NY, was arrested and charged by criminal complaint with possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and cocaine, which carry a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, which carries a mandatory minimum penalty of five years in prison, and a maximum of life, and being a felon in possession of a firearm, which carries a maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.
David E. Nelson, 89, of Windfall Road, St. Marys, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2025 at his residence with his wife by his side. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and under the direction of Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc.

Freshman Mackenzi Tice of Mansfield took the mound in Friday’s second game and spun her first collegiate career no-hitter, striking out 10 and walking two in an 8-0, six-inning win. Another freshman, Peyton Crawford of Bloomsburg sparked the offense, going 3 for 3 at the plate with a double and three RBIs, and Sofia LaSpina of Bellmore, New York, delivered a two-run home run.

Among the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford’s Class of 2025 are the first energy engineering technology major to graduate and a criminal justice graduate who is headed to the Pennsylvania State Police Academy.
Mychal Berlinski of Allegany, N.Y., is the university’s first energy engineering technology major to graduate. He will be working in quality engineering at Napoleon Engineering Services in Olean, N.Y., with a focus on measurement and artificial intelligence implementation.
Blake Pretash, a criminal justice major from Philipsburg, is the first Pitt-Bradford graduate to successfully complete testing, background investigation and secure a Pennsylvania State Police Academy date while still an active student. Pretash will start his training at the academy in Harrisburg this month.
On Sunday, 183 students from 11 states and South Korea will graduate at 2 p.m. in the KOA Arena. The Commencement ceremony will be streamed live at www.upb.pitt.edu/academics/commencement and Pitt-Bradford’s YouTube channel.
Mary Lee (McClure) Trowbridge, age 88, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Thursday, May 1, 2025.Â
She was born on February 9, 1937 in Roseville, PA, a daughter of the late Lee and Eleanor (Mitchell) McClure and was married for 65 years to Robert Trowbridge. Mary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro and a professor at Mansfield University for 30 years. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her grandchildren.Â

The Bradford Hospital Foundation (BHF) invites the community to participate in the annual Flags of Honor, a tribute recognizing military veterans past and present.
From April 25 to May 13, individuals can purchase an American flag for $5 in honor or memory of a veteran. All purchased flags will be proudly displayed on the front lawn of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC), a Kaleida Health facility, from May 16 through May 26, encompassing both Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day.

The ‘Wild’ Envirothon was held on Wednesday, April 30, 2025 hosted by the Veterans Memorial in Port Allegany. The Envirothon began in 1989 in McKean County. 110 students from both Cameron and McKean Counties that included Cameron County High School, Bradford High School, Kane Area High School, Otto-Eldred High School, Port Allegany High School, and Smethport Area High School, participated in the event.
During this hands-on competition, students may be asked to measure a tree…identify a frog or toad call…or determine soil erosion potential according to a soil survey. They work as a 5-member team to answer questions, and use their critical thinking to find solutions to reality-based situations.
Partners helping to make the day possible included DCNR Bureau of Forestry, PA Game Commission, USDA Natural Resources & Conservation Service, University of Pittsburgh at Bradford as well as staff and volunteers from the Cameron and McKean County Conservation Districts.

Bruce A. Satterlee, 92, of Wellsville passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2025, at the Wellsville Manor Care Center. He was born August 13, 1932, in Wellsville, the son of William and Marian (Witter) Satterlee.
Bruce was a 1950 graduate of Wellsville Central High School. He was employed as a handyman in Wellsville for many years. He was a locomotive enthusiast, a clock collector, and an avid animal lover. He was a former member of the Wellsville Congregational Church.

Salmonella an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

Bernard F. West, age 87, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Thursday, May 1, 2025.
He was born on May 14, 1937 in Wellsboro, PA, a son of the late Myron and Genoa (Thomas) West and was married to the late Myrna F. (Rowin) West.
Bernard served in the US Air Force, was retired from Corning Glass Works, Wellsboro, PA and had also worked as an independent contractor. He and was a member of the Morris Rod and Gun Club, an avid fly tyer and fisherman, enjoyed hunting, gardening and traveling.
