Marlowe H. Haas, 98, of of Guy and Mary Felt Manor and formerly of Moore Hill Rd, Emporium, PA passed away at Guy & Mary Felt Manor, Emporium, PA on Tuesday morning (November 22, 2022). She was born February 1, 1924 in Bowmanstown, PA, a daughter of the late J. Franklin “Frank” and Esther Haines Arner. On April 13, 1946 in Leather Corner Post, PA she married the late James W. Haas.
Mrs. Haas graduated from St. Lukes School of Nursing in Bethlehem, PA in the class of 1944. She was a member of the NRA and the Republican National Committee.
She is survived by a son, Nelson Haas (Rose), Emporium; daughter-in-law Janet Haas; five grandchildren: Christopher, Rachel, Matthew, Rebecca and Seth, seven great grandchildren: Anna, Jed, Katrina, Nicholas, Brianna, Warren and Roselyn.
In addition to her parents and husband, Marlowe was preceded in death by a son, Leslie J. Haas and a sister, Marian Jones.
There will be No Visitation. Service and burial will be held privately with the family.
Robert E. Sherwood, 72, of Seneca Drive, Port Allegany, PA passed away peacefully, Monday (Nov. 21, 2022) in UPMC Shady Side Hospital, Pittsburgh.
Born April 15, 1950, in Port Allegany, he was a son of Eugene V. and Elizabeth Z. Hoffman Sherwood.
Robert was a lifelong resident of the area and graduated from the Port Allegany High School.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having served with the U.S. Army.
He was employed with several area companies: Ball Corp. and Pittsburgh Corning Co., both of Port Allegany, GKN of Emporium, and most recent as a CNC operator with Case Cutlery Co., of Bradford, before having to retire.
Robert was a member of the VFW, Post 6391, Port Allegany. He was an outdoors person who enjoyed hunting, fishing and boating.
Surviving is a son, Shawn R. Sherwood of Port Allegany; a daughter, Christie L. (Mark) Willcox of Port Allegany; six grandchildren: Jocelyn Lilly and Bria Willcox, both of Port Allegany, Bryce and Cameron Sherwood, both of Lewis Run, Carter Billyard of Port Allegany, and Kinsley Sherwood of Coudersport; a brother, Steven W. (Marlena) Sherwood of Port Allegany; two sisters, Betty G. Springer and Vivian L. Lamont, both of Port Allegany; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
There will be no visitation or funeral service. A private graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Port Allegany.
Karen M. Murray, 42, of Shinglehouse, PA passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, in the Olean General Hospital, Olean, N.Y.
Family and friends may call from 11am to 1pm on Saturday, November 26, 2022, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 1pm.

A $150 early bird season pass to attend 13 Endless Mountain Music Festival concerts featuring world-class musicians is available only through next Wednesday, Nov. 30.
On Thursday, Dec. 1, the price will increase to $199throughSaturday, Dec 31 andwill increase to $250 onJan. 1, 2023.
“The early bird season pass is an opportunity to give a music lover a great gift for Christmas, a birthday, anniversary or just because,” said Cindy Long, EMMF executive director.
The 17-day festival will offer a menu of music from Friday, July 21 through Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023 at venues in Pennsylvania and New York.
Admission to six of the eight symphony orchestra concerts on Fridays in Mansfield and Saturdays in Corning, N.Y. is $39 each or $234 and to eight of the 10 chamber concerts is $30 each or $240.
Two of the eight symphony orchestra concerts are free with one in Wellsboro on July 23 at 2:30 p.m. and the other in Corning on Aug. 6 at 2:30 p.m.
Two of the 10 chamber concerts are free and will be in Pennsylvania, one outdoors under the stars at Cherry Springs State Park near Galeton in Potter County at 8 p.m. and the other indoors at the Yoked Church in Knoxville in Tioga County at 7 p.m.

Beverly J. Higley, 90, a longtime resident of Coudersport, PA passed away with her loving daughter by her side on Saturday, November 19, 2022, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born on Saturday, September 24, 1932 in Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of LeRoy and Doris Haynes VanDruff. On June 6, 1954 in Ceres, she married Donald D. “Don” Higley, who passed away on November 26, 2013.
Beverly was a graduate of Wellsville (NY) High School.
She was a longtime member and deaconess of the Coudersport Alliance Church. She was a devoted volunteer and supporter of the Alliance Food Bank. Beverly enjoyed solving crossword puzzles. Her greatest loves were the Lord and her family.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Stuart E. (Virginia) Higley of Lakeland, Florida; a daughter, Ann E. Horn of Coudersport; a grandson, David E. Horn of Coudersport; a granddaughter, Cristy L. Higley of Huntington Beach, California; three great-grandchildren, Darian, Joshua, and Isabella; a sister, Rose Cox of Geneseo, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Beverly was predeceased by an infant daughter, Naomi Sue Higley.
Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service at Noon on Saturday, December 10, 2022, in the Coudersport Alliance Church, 7 Alliance Avenue, Coudersport, with Pastor John Dean, officiating.

M. Carol Wismar, 86, of Horner Rd., Wilcox, PA died early Tuesday afternoon, November 22, 2022 at her residence following a short illness.
She was born August 2, 1936 in Wilcox a daughter to the late Linus and Margaret Pavlina Nearing. On January 31, 1958 in St. Anne Church, Wilcox she married James E. Wismar. He preceded him in death on January 9, 2021.
Carol was a lifelong resident of Wilcox, a 1958 graduate of Wilcox High School and was a member of St. Anne’s Church. Carol received a Medal from the US Air Force in 1959 as an Honorary Life Member of the Air Defense Team for Voluntary and Faithful Service in the Ground Observer Corps. for her 8 years of service from 1951 to 1959. Along with her husband, she had worked for the Make-A-Wish Foundation for many years. Devoted to her family, she loved spending time together, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to crochet, flower garden and the backyard birds around her home.
Carol is survived by her children; Wayne Wismar and his wife Kathy of Mt. Pleasant, PA, Donald Wismar and his wife Julie of Wilcox and Tricia, Mrs. Steve Brendel of Wilcox. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and brothers and sisters; Sharon Nearing of Wilcox, Raymond Nearing of Wilcox, Patricia Stauffer of Wilcox and Linus Nearing of Lake City and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial for Carol Wismar to be conducted at St. Anne’s Church, Wilcox on Friday November 25, 2022 at 10:30 AM with Fr. David Wilson, Pastor as officiant. Interment will be in Wilcox Cemetery.
