Alice Irene Powers, 80, of School Street, Rixford, passed away Friday, October 23, 2026, at UPMC Hamot Medical Center.

Born on February 19, 1946, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Hiram and Betty (Mott) Ward Sr.

On December 24, 1977, in Coleville, she married Daniel Powers who preceded her in death on January 19, 2022.

Alice grew up in Custer City and attended Bradford Area High School.

She was a homemaker for her family and proudly helped raise many foster children over the years. She adopted four of them herself. In her spare time she was an avid reader.

Surviving is one son, Larry (Lisa) McCool, of Bradford, one adopted daughter, Shauna Powers,  three adopted sons, twins, Scott Powers and Josh Powers, and Brent Powers,  three grandchildren, Matthew (Georgeann) McCool, Kyle McCool and Megan McCool, two great-grandchildren, Karley and Kinsley McCool, one sister, Linda Miller, of Ohio, and one brother, Hiram (Deb) Ward Jr., of Titusville, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dan, four sisters, Florence Mitchell, Harriet McCracken, Nancy Day and Betty Carl, and one brother, Levi Ward.

At the family’s request, there will not be any public services.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
