Alice B. Beimel, 94, of 215 Benedict Street, St. Marys, PA
Alice B. Beimel, 94, of 215 Benedict Street, St. Marys, died Monday, August 5, 2024 at Pinecrest Manor.
She was born on May 25, 1930, in St. Marys, the daughter of Andrew and Caroline (Hoffman) Mosemiller.
On July 1, 1950, she married the late Richard J. Beimel, who passed away in 2007. They shared 57 years together, and she remained devoted to him through his many years that he spent at the nursing home, faithfully visiting him twice a day.
She is survived by six children; Raymond Beimel of St. Marys, Virginia Sennett Shrubb (Stark) of St. Marys, Sharon Wehler (Ed) of St. Marys, Mary Lewis (Lee) of Ridgway, Richard C. Beimel (Charlotte) of St. Marys, and Joan Beimel of St Marys. Alice has seven grandchildren, Eric and Paul Sennett, Angela and Jessie Wehler, Joseph and Shari Lewis, and Matthew Beimel. Also surviving are seven great-grandchildren, Maeve and Camille Sennett, Cooper and Bode Regulski, Lillian and Evelyn Sennett, and Lucas Beimel. She is also survived by a sister; Irene Wehler of St. Marys.
Alice was affiliated with the St. Marys Historical Society for nearly 40 years. She served as president and was appointed curator. She brought to that office an incredible memory for knowing where things in that massive collection were stored or displayed. She held that position through the Society being located in four different places. She was well known for her knowledge of local genealogy and for her assistance to so many others who were searching for their ancestors.
She took great pleasure in finding a photo of an ancestor or a long forgotten obituary that would fill in more blanks in a family history. She did this not only for her family but so also for many others she was not related to.
Alice was known for her incredible talents as a seamstress. She could make anything out of fabric and would repair and adjust all kinds of clothing. Among her many other talents was baking. Her cream puffs among many other creations are still spoken of highly by anyone who had the pleasure of eating one.
Her greatest joy came from the grandchildren and great grandchildren. At age 89 she would still be sitting on the floor playing games with the little kids at Christmas time.
In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by six siblings; Edward, Evelyn, Robert, Marie, Arthur and Leo Mosemiller.
