946 PEOPLE ATTEND CANYON PILOTS ASSOCIATION LABOR DAY WEEKEND ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT FLY-IN BREAKFAST
The Canyon Pilots Association Labor Day Weekend All-You-Can-Eat Fly-In Breakfast was on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 8 a.m. to noon at the corporate hangar at the Grand Canyon Regional Airport in Delmar Township at 112 Runway Road, near Wellsboro.
“After the fog lifted, sometime between 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., it was a great day for flying. People went on airplane rides over the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon for a fee or entered a raffle for a chance to ride in a helicopter,” said Joe Burnside, Canyon Pilots Association treasurer.
“At Sunday’s breakfast, we served ham, eggs, buckwheat pancakes, coffee and orange juice to 946 people, including 870 adults and youth, ages 9 and up, and 76 youngsters ages eight and under,” according to Burnside.
“Members of our association assisted by members of the Canyon Country Ultralight Club started serving around 7:40 a.m. The line was constant until 10:45 a.m. and from then to noon people were served as soon as they arrived,” said Burnside. “The line was not as long as it was at last year’s breakfast.”
On Sunday, Sept. 3, 2023, the Canyon Pilots Association Labor Day Weekend All-You-Can-Eat Fly-In Breakfast had set a new record with 1,231 breakfasts served, 1,092 for adults and 139 for kids. That was about 300 more people than usual.
