Linda L. Schwabenbauer, 69, of St. Marys, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Penn Highlands Dubois following a brief illness.

She was born on June 6, 1955 in St. Marys, a daughter of the late Earl and Clara Ferris VanAlstine.

On July 25, 1981, she married the late George Schwabenbauer, who preceded her in death on October 25, 2019. Together they shared more than 38 years of marriage.

Linda was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 1973 and worked for more than 38 years at Penn Highlands Elk in the Medical Records Department. Always armed with a funny joke, and a smile, Linda could always make anyone laugh and bring a smile to your face. She enjoyed cross stitching, going for rides, and collecting Winnie the Pooh and Holly Hobbie figurines. She will be fondly remembered as a wonderful and loving wife, mother, and sister.

She is survived by one son; Joseph Schwabenbauer of St. Marys; and by six siblings; Vernon “Butch” (Janice) VanAlstine of St. Marys, Sandra (George) Ehrensberger of St. Marys, Regis (Barbara) VanAlstine of Austin, Keith VanAlstine of St. Marys, Connie (William) Heeter of St. Marys and Jackie (Ron) Fingado of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Linda was preceded in death by a brother, Robert VanAlstine.

A Memorial Service for Linda L. Schwabenbauer will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home.

There will be no public visitation.

Burial will be in the St. Marys Protestant Cemetery.
