Nellie T. Rostan, 101, Lutheran Home at Kane, PA
Nellie T. Rostan, 101, passed away Monday (Feb. 19) in the Lutheran Home at Kane. Born Oct. 18, 1922, she is the daughter of the late Max and Theresa (Ostrauska) Taucher. On Nov. 20, 1948 in Kane, she married August Rostan, who preceded her in death.
Nellie was a member of St. Callistus Catholic Church and also a member of the CD of A Court Callistus No. 66 and the Altar Rosary Society. Earlier in life she had worked as a Linotype operator for the Kane Republican and also at the Shirt Factory and as a cashier for the A & P.
She is survived by two sons, August (Barbara) Rostan of Fayetteville, NC and Joseph (Tina) Rostan of Kane; two daughters Theresa (Bill) Tunall and Kathleen Rostan, both of Kane; one sister Maxine Taucher of Kane; nine grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren, four great great-grandchidlren and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Victoria Phillips and Helen Taucher; three brothers, John Taucher and Anthony and Daniel Wallace; and three infant siblings, Max Taucher, Mary Taucher and Theresa Taucher. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather Tony Wallace.
Friends are invited to attend a viewing which will take place Thursday (Feb. 22) from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Gathering Space at St. Callistus Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 with the Rev. William O’Brien as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.
