Mark Thomas Crowley, 69, of Eustis, FL, previously of Bolivar, NY, passed away Monday, January 22, 2024 after a lengthy illness with his family at his side at the Pines of Olean.
Born February 9, 1953 in Cuba, NY, he was the son of Robert and Mary Congdon Crowley.
He was a graduate of Bolivar Central School, Class of 1972. While in high school he was known as the class clown, always bringing humor to any situation. Active in sports, he lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track, and was a star high jumper in track.
After high school, he started working as a welder for Clark Brothers in Olean, New York. From there he moved to Ohio and later to Connecticut, welding on nuclear submarines. Mark and his loving companion, Dot, then moved to Eustis, Florida where he began driving cross-country trips for Service Trucking Company, until his retirement.
Mark was a member of the Kenyon Andrus Post 772 Sons of the American Legion of Bolivar.
He always looked forward to returning home for special occasions to spend time with his large family.
Surviving are two sons, Shane and Jamie of Florida; three sisters, Norene Ferris of Bolivar, NY, Margaret (William) Johnston of Cuba, NY; Monica Corwin of Belfast, NY; two brothers, Richard (Judy) Crowley of Olean, NY, Daniel (Heidi) Crowley of Bolivar, NY; and several nieces and nephews and their families.
He was predeceased by his parents, three brothers, James, Michael and John, two special brothers-in-law, Thomas Ferris and Daniel Corwin, and a loving companion, Dorothy Robb.
Friends may call at the Mark F. Rinker Funeral Home & Memorial Service, Inc. (formerly Schaffner Funeral Home), 554 South Main Street, Bolivar, New York 14715 on Wednesday, January 24, 2024 from 3-6 P.M. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, 111 Wellsville Street, Bolivar, on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at 10:00 A.M. Father Michael Reyes, OFM, will be the celebrant.
Burial will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Bolivar.
