Patricia A. Morrison, formerly of Annin Creek Rd., Port Allegany, PA passed away Tuesday (Aug. 8, 2023) in UPMC Cole, Coudersport.

     Born January 25, 1946, in Daytona Beach, FL, she was a daughter of Robin D. and Rita M. McCarthy Johnson. On Mar. 8, 1963, in Delaware County, PA, she married Stephen V. Morrison, who survives.

        She was a graduate of Monsignor Bonner & Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, Drexel Hill, PA, where she met her husband, Stephen, and Irish and Italian Combo and clash.

She attended nursing school and was a few classes short of getting her degree.

    She was an advocate non-stop for her special needs son.  She was one of the original participating litigants in Commonwealth Pennsylvania and Mills vs Board of Education-addressed the issue of education for children with disabilities. At the time, millions of children with disabilities were refused enrollment in public schools, were inadequately served by public schools, or were sent to institutions. In 1975, the Education for all Handicapped Children Act now called Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) was passed.

     Patricia loved the beach, seashells, Assateague Island and especially seafood! She was a small cottage businesswoman & entrepreneur: Tupperware Queen of Sales, Interior design & home crafts, house cleaning service, Avon Rep and Pathmark Cashier.

     She volunteered as both a Cub Scout & Brownies den mother. She enjoyed church activities, being on the phone, doing things with her family, road-trips & camping at state parks. Gardening, crafting, canning, cooking, reading, raising farm animals, especially multiple breeds of exotic chickens, collecting antiques, and knickknacks were her favorite pursuits.

She acquired scores of cookbooks, writing notes in each one based upon her preferences and test kitchen modifying them to her liking. She was a gastronomic critic whenever she ate out.

She was a devoted daughter & caretaker to her mother and father-in-law. Her proudest accomplishment- later in life- was helping establish the Turtlepoint Park, along with her friends Dorothy Strait and Janet Mead. She was passionate, fiery, forceful, quick witted, and excellent conversationalist caring of life and creation and had a great sense of humor.

She modelled & maintained a daily faith, love of God, personal worship, resiliency, problem solving, in all areas and matters of life and kindness to all God’s creatures, she viewed any stranger as a neighbor or long lost family. She was eager to volunteer for any need of the many churches she attended. She helped many persons through difficult, dark and hopeless situations. She was a country gal through and through but had deep Delaware County, PA & Florida roots.

     She will be greatly missed, but in her words, “It will only be a short while before we see face to face again. Life passes quickly but Jesus and Eternity last forever. A lady always knows when to exit the stage and she does so in her time with style and grace.” She is now free from the sickness, suffering and the limitations of her mortal body, She lived and exited with humor & grace.

     Surviving in addition to her husband Stephen, are three daughters, Elizabeth A.  “Lisa” Morrison of Port Allegany, Patricia M. “Patti” Morrison of Chicago, IL, and Theresa A. Greineder of Honey Grove, TX; two sons, Robin D. “Bobby” Morrison and Stephen M. Morrison both of Laguana Beach, CA; ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother, Robin D. Johnson, Jr.

     A private viewing and graveside service will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Annin Creek Cemetery, Turtlepoint.

     Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Switzer Funeral Home, Port Allegany.
