Eugene D. “Gene” Cawley, 64, of Bradford, passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at his residence. 

Born September 29, 1962, a son of the late DeWayne C. and Shirley A. (Stoddard) Cawley, Sr.

Gene was a 1980 graduate of Bradford High School. 

In 1980 he joined the United States Navy, while in the service he was trained in Nuclear Medicine and later developed the skills to construct the laboratories. He was honorably discharged after eight years of service. After his discharge he earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Gusrulum College.

After the service Gene traveled throughout the United States building Nuclear Medical Labs. In 2001 he returned to Bradford and worked at Bradford Hospital as Director of Nuclear Medicine until the hospital closed in May of 2026. 

Gene was a member of the Bradford VFW Post 212 and Bradford Legion Post 108.   

Surviving is one sister, Linda (Kevin) Potts, of Bradford, and two brothers, James D. (Susan) Cawley, of Custer City, and DeWayne C. (Teresa) Cawley Jr. of Bradford, and several seven nieces and four nephews.

Family will receive friends on Friday November 6, 2026, from 10 am  to 11 am at First Baptist Church 1289 East Main Street, at 11 am a Celebration of Life will be held with Rev. Jeremy Childs, Pastor officiating, followed by Military Honors at Willow Dale Cemetery by members of the United States Navy, the Honor Guard from the American Legion Post 108 and BU2 Matthew Ashley of the United States Navy.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
