Williamsport, Pa., July 9, 2026 – UPMC hospitals in North Central Pennsylvania have earned national recognition from the American Heart Association for their ongoing work to improve stroke care and support better outcomes for patients close to home.

• UPMC Williamsport – American Heart Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Silver Plus award with Target: Stroke Honor Roll and Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognitions
• UPMC Wellsboro – Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Gold award with Target: Type 2 Diabetes Honor Roll recognition and Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Silver
• UPMC Muncy – Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Gold award 
• UPMC Cole – Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke Rural Recognition Bronze award

These recognitions highlight the hospitals’ dedication to improving stroke care by meeting nationally recognized quality measures established by the American Heart Association.

Each year, program participants qualify for the award by demonstrating how their organization has committed to providing quality care for stroke patients. In addition to following treatment guidelines, Get With The Guidelines® participants also educate patients to help them manage their health and recovery at home. The achievement measures for all designations are based on nationally recognized, research-based guidelines established from the latest scientific evidence.
