Free July Programs at Sinnemahoning State Park!

Saturday July 11^th, 2026

9:00 A.M.-11:00 A.M. – Wildlife Kayak Tour-Take a relaxing paddle out on the lake in search of wildlife and recreation! Borrow the park’s kayaks and equipment or bring your own. Open to participants age 10 to adult. Group size is limited. Pre-registration is required. Please indicate in the additional info section below whether you plan to the park's boats and equipment or bring your own

8:30 P.M.-9:30 P.M Campground Movie: A Squirrels Guide to Success- Join a park naturalist and learn about the different types of squirrels that live in the park, then enjoy a showing a the PBS Nature Documentary "A Squirrels Guide to Success".

Sunday July 12th, 2026

9:00 AM, 10:30 A.M., and 12:30 P.M. -Pontoon Tours of the Stevenson Reservoir-Join park staff for a relaxing and informative tour around the lake, as we cruise the shoreline of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir in search of wildlife. Group size is limited. To reserve a seat, please pre-register. Registration is not required but is strongly recommended.

1:00 P.M.-2:30 P.M – Insect Investigation- Join a park educator for an investigation of some the parks smallest creatures, insects!

6:00 P.M.-7:00 P.M – Historic Bites- Time-travel with your taste buds, as we step back into the past and explore a historic recipe from a by-gone era. We’ll use food to investigate history, and science of the First Fork Valley. Pre-registration is required for this event.

8:30 P.M.-9:30 P.M – Introduction to Archery- Have you ever wanted to give archery a try? This program will cover the basics of archery, including bow types, shooting form, and safety. Open to participants ages 10 and older, this program requires pre-registration.

Sizerville State Park Environmental Education Programs, Weekend of July 18^th

Program Title: Wildlife Futures – Guest Presenter

Date: Saturday, July 18^th

Time: 3:00 PM

Location: Environmental Learning Center

Description: Launched in 2019, the Wildlife Futures Program is a novel partnership between Penn Vet and the Pennsylvania Game Commission aimed at strengthening the resilience of the Commonwealth’s 480 species of birds and mammals. Join Brianna Micsky as she explains the goals, research, and importance of Wildlife Futures, along with showing us how the program is improving wildlife management in Pennsylvania and beyond.

Program Title: Fundamentals of Fur Harvesting – Guest Presenters

Date: Saturday, July 18^th

Time: 7:00 PM

Location: Campground Amphitheater

Description: Join Paul Lilja and Jeff Dornisch from the PA Trappers Association for a presentation on all of Pennsylvania’s furbearer species, background information on trapping, and how to process the fur once the animal is harvested. There will be a Q&A session after the program—feel free to bring snacks & a blanket!

Program Title: Nature Craft & Story

Date: Sunday, July 19^th

Time: 10:00 AM

Location: Environmental Learning Center

Description: Come down to the ELC and join the park educator for a short story followed by a make and take craft. This week’s topic will be owls!

To register for a program, go to the DCNR Calendar of Events website, search Sizerville State Park, find the program listed, and click on the Register button right under the program date, time, and location.
