To honor two decades of Art in the Wilds creative excellence, the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau is bringing this legendary blazing, mobile glassblowing studio. Hot Wheels brings the hypnotic, high-heat artistry of live glass blowing directly to the two-day festival, transforming molten glass into breathtaking sculpture right before the audiences’ eyes. Admission to Art in the Wilds and the glass blowing demonstrations are free to experience.
“Art in the Wilds organizers aptly named this installment of their festival, “Cheers to 20 Years” as it’s not only a monumental event featuring artisans from across the region, but it’s a nod to the leadership and countless volunteer hours committed to putting on a festival of this scale each summer Kane’s beautiful Evergreen Park,” said Rustin Lippincott, Director of the Allegheny National Forest Visitors Bureau. “The Bureau is excited to celebrate this cultural jewel of the PA Wilds with something absolutely electric witnessing glass being transformed into art.”
Art in the Wilds features 40 elite, juried artists and artisans from north central Pennsylvania and southwestern New York, stepping out of their studio and into the park, eager to showcase their custom creations and chat with the public about their creative process. Named a “Must Attend” show by the national Sunset Artist magazine, Art in the Wilds is ideal for either the season collector or a first-timer looking for ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, leather and mixed media, painting and drawing, photography, sculpture and wood.
Bring the kids along as there are fun events for them at the Kane Children’s Museum, across the street from Art in the Wilds. On Saturday, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. the Museum will feature a musical instrument petting zoom, an interactive exhibit featuring acoustic and electric guitars, ukuleles, keyboards and dozens of percussion instruments for kids of all ages to touch and play.
