Potter County Democratic Committee Steps Up To Keep Recycling Center Community Service Open
COUDERSPORT, Pa. – June 8, 2026 – The Potter County Democratic Committee has officially stepped in to take over community service operations at the Potter County Recycling Center, ensuring this vital station remains open to the public for the foreseeable future. The committee is proud to extend the life of this community service following the dedicated, long-standing tenure of the Coudersport Lions Club.
The transition of responsibility officially began on May 31, 2026. Following a successful handover, the new volunteer team hosted their first official Saturday service session on June 6.
Operating Hours and Guidelines
The recycling center is open to the public year-round on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. To ensure smooth and efficient processing, residents are asked to adhere to the station’s material guidelines.
Accepted Items:
- Clean cardboard
- Clean “tin” cans (e.g., soup cans)
- Aluminum cans
- Plastic items and bottles
- Unshredded paper
Refused Items:
- Flat glass (pane glass)
- Styrofoam
- Any dirty or unrinsed items
Community Donations
A donation box is available on-site during operating hours. All monetary contributions collected will directly benefit charities in the area.
To maintain consistent and reliable hours, the initiative is actively expanding its volunteer base. Organizers are calling on individuals who want to give back to the community, as well as local groups seeking meaningful service projects, to join the effort.
