PITT-BRADFORD STUDENTS TO PERFORM CHEKHOV PLAY

BRADFORD, Pa. — The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will present a student production of “The Cherry Orchard” by Anton Chekhov AT 7:30 p.m. Nov. 13-15 and 2 p.m. Nov. 16 in the Studio Theater at Blaisdell Hall.
“Chekhov was a country doctor before he was a playwright,” said Dr. Kevin Ewert, professor of theater. “Somehow, in 1904, he diagnosed an acute human condition that we might now call the ‘hot mess.’
“When you don’t know whether to laugh or to cry … when you can’t hold on, but don’t know how to let go … when you just want to make those around you happy, but everything you say and do just makes things worse … when you take the long trip home to find out, definitively, that you can never go home again: that’s ‘The Cherry Orchard.’”
Ewert directs the production, which features Miranda Mong, an English major from Russell; Zech Waterman, an English major from Bradford; Malakai Hines, an interdisciplinary arts major from New Brunswick, N.J.; Adriana Herrera, an interdisciplinary arts major from Leasburg, N.C.; Mara Martinec, an English education 7-12 major from Oil City; Raygn Walker, a radiological science major from Smethport; Caleigh Wolosewicz, an early-level education major from Smethport; Angelya Sherwood, a business management major from Bradford; Saturn Duplaga, a psychology major from Sewickley;
Ellie Yeager, an undeclared student from Kane; Madelyn Seeley, an early-level education major from Granville Summit; Breanna Yale, an English education 7-12 major from Brockway; Gus Wilson, a history-political science major from Littleton, Colo.; Shiloh Niedermeier, forensic science student from Easton; Jocelyn Martinez, a business management major from River Rouge, Mich.; Cornell Jones, a forensic science major from Pittsburgh; Katelyn Love, an undeclared student from Wilcox.
With this production, Ewert completes a decades-long cycle of staging all four of Chekhov’s major plays at the university. Earlier Pitt-Bradford productions include “Three Sisters” (2002), “Uncle Vanya” (2007) and “The Seagull” (2013).
Tickets are $6 for public $2 for all students. For more information, and to purchase tickets visit www.upb.pitt.edu/theArts or call the Bromeley Family Theater Box Office at 814-362-5113.
