The Deane Center Presents “Disciple of the Garden”: A Tribute to Chris Cornell

The Deane Center for the Performing Arts is presenting Disciple of the Garden: A Tribute to Chris Cornell, Soundgarden and Audioslave next Friday, Nov. 14 at 7:30 p.m. in the Coolidge Theatre at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro.
This performance honors Cornell’s unparalleled voice, poignant lyrics, and groundbreaking contributions to rock music.
Rolling Stone magazine, a prominent music publication, praised Cornell for his powerful vocal range, songwriting abilities, and charismatic stage presence. They often referred to him as “one of the greatest rock vocalists of his generation”. Additionally, Rolling Stone recognized Cornell’s impact on the grunge and rock music scenes through his work with Soundgarden and Audioslave.
A renowned musician and songwriter, Cornell was best known as the lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist for the rock bands Soundgarden and Audioslave. He won two Grammy Awards with those two bands and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for his song “The Keeper” from the movie “Machine Gun Preacher” and for an Academy Award for his song “You Know My Name” from the James Bond movie “Casino Royale”,
Cornell was a founding member of Soundgarden in 1984, a band that achieved critical and commercial success, and a prominent figure in the 1990s Seattle grunge rock scene.
He later formed the supergroup Audioslave with members of Rage Against the Machine, creating hits such as “Like a Stone” and also achieving critical and commercial success
In celebrating Cornell’s legacy, Disciple of the Garden channels the raw power and emotional depth of his iconic music, covering hits from his successful solo career with albums like “Euphoria Morning” and “Carry On” and from his years with Soundgarden and Audioslave until his tragic death on May 18, 2017.
Based out of Westchester County, New York, Disciple of the Garden delivers Cornell’s 1990s grunge, hard rock hits, and select deep cuts that this legend made famous.
Among them are
Soundgarden’s anthems “Black Hole Sun,” “Spoonman,” and “Outshined,” alongside other notable tracks like “Rusty Cage.”
His powerful, versatile voice and lyrical talent defined the grunge era’s sound, blending heavy riffs with melodic and haunting elements.
With meticulous attention to detail, Disciple of the Garden recreates the energy and emotive essence that made Cornell’s music so influential and helped define the grunge movement of the 1990s. This tribute band faithfully allows fans to relive the magic of Cornell’s extraordinary talent, his captivating stage presence, and the sheer intensity of his performances.

Members of this tribute band are: Joe Leo (vocals/guitar); Ronny Vidal (drums); Vic Pena (bass); Eddie Evelyn (guitar) and Chris “Fury” Fiore (guitar).
The doors will open for this concert at 7 p.m. If available, tickets will be sold in the Deane Center lobby beginning at 7 p.m. on Nov. 14.
