Port Allegany – Jean E. Martin, 80, of Roulette, passed away Thursday (September 25, 2025) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.

She was born May 28, 1945 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Albert and Betty (Empson) Dates.On September 10, 1966, in Roulette, PA, she married George E. Martin, who survives. Jean and George had just celebrated 59 years of marriage.

Jean was a graduate of Port Allegany High School Class of 1963. She baby sat for families and cleaned houses for many years.

Jean was very active. She was a life member of the Roulette Fire Dept. Women’s Auxiliary, attended the Coudersport Senior Center, and was a member of the Potter County Area Agency on Aging Advisory Board.  She was an avid NASCAR fan, was active on bowling teams, was a Pittsburgh Steeler and Buffalo Bills football fan, a New York Yankees baseball fan and loved ladybugs. Jean and George wintered in Florida for 27 years.

One son: Jeffrey G. (Jenny Saltsman) Martin of Roulette, PA

Two grandchildren: Corbin (Kim) Martin of Coudersport and Lynzie A. (Jim) Rinamon of Cuba, NY

Five great grandchild: Bailey Jean Martin, Max, Ronan, Trey, and Ava Tettit

One brother: Ronald (Judy) Dates of Roulette, PA

And several nieces and nephews

In addition to her parents, Jean was preceded in death by one grandson, Jaret J. Martin and one brother, James Dates.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, Oct. 2, 2025, from 10 AM to Noon, at Hartle-Tarbox Funeral Homes Inc., 105 Main St., Port Allegany, where funeral services will begin at noon, with the Rev. James Cannistraci, officiating. Burial will be in the Card Creek Cemetery, Roulette.
