Darlene E. MacDonald, 78, formerly of 65 Patterson Lane, Bradford, passed away Monday, March 10, 2025, at The Bradford Pavilion.
Born July 19, 1946, in Bradford, she was the daughter of the late Matilda (Groeger) Padasak-Engel and the late Andrew J. Padasak.
On November 26, 1976, at the First United Methodist Church in Bradford, she married Lowell E. MacDonald, who survives.
Darlene was a 1964 Bradford High School graduate. She attended Edinboro University where she graduated in 1968 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. She was a beloved math teacher in the Bradford Area School District for 33 years when she retired.
Darlene enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing horseshoes and gardening. She was an avid bowler, serving as the League Secretary and maintaining a 177 average. Darlene loved being referred to as “Nana Mac” and, to her grand-daughter’s dismay, earned the title of “Naughty Nana” on one of her many trips to Las Vegas. She loved animals and was known as the “Cat Lady of Patterson Lane”. She especially enjoyed spending time with her fur babies and she will be greatly missed by Little Guy and Murphy.
Surviving is one daughter, Heidi (Ed Jimerson) Bilz, of Ocala, FL, two grandchildren, Kylea (Evan) Glassman, of Buffalo, NY, and Andrew (Himangini) Bilz, of Tampa, FL. She is also survived by several cousins, brother and sister in laws, many nieces and nephews and a few great friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-father, Harold Engel, many aunts and uncles, several cousins and other beloved people in her life.
The family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, April 4, 2025, from 9am to 10am at St. Bernard Church in Bradford. Funeral services will be held immediately following at 10am, with Fr. Ed Walk, as Celebrant officiating. Burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.
Memorial contributions, if desired, may be made to The McKean County SPCA or a charity of the donors choice.
