Louise A. TAYLOR, 64, of Galeton, PA, died Thursday, May 15, 2025 in UPMC Williamsport.
Born August 26, 1960, in Blossburg, she was the daughter of James E. and Martha A. Stocum Taylor. She enjoyed flowers, plants, and gardening. Watching horses and wildlife brought her happiness. A seamstress, she shared the beautiful creations she made with friends and family.
Stanley E. BRUBAKER, 82, of Westfield, PA
Stanley E. BRUBAKER, 82, of Westfield, PA, went to be with his Savior on Friday, May 16, 2025 in his home surrounded by his family.
Born May 25, 1942, in Lewistown, Miflin County, he was the son of Allen G. and Frances Myers Brubaker. On March 10, 1962, in Newville, he married the former Sarah Crider, who predeceased him on October 21, 2022. He and his wife owned and operated a dairy farm in Westfield for 45 years and the S’s Dairy Store for five years.

ADVISORY – TUESDAY – 5/20 — PFBC and State Representative Bud Cook to Promote Safe Boating at Smitty’s Marina, Announce New Boating Safety Education Course
On Tuesday, May 20, 2025, at 2 p.m., Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) Executive Director Tim Schaeffer and staff will be joined by State Representative Bud Cook and local officials at Smitty’s Marina to celebrate National Safe Boating Week. In addition, officials will announce a new opportunity for local boaters to earn their Boating Safety Education Certificate this summer.
Portion of Susquehanna River Near Harrisburg International Airport to be Restricted During Air Show
HARRISBURG, Pa. (May 16) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) is alerting boaters that access to a portion of the Susquehanna River will be restricted from May 22-25, during the upcoming Air Dot Show Tour at Harrisburg International Airport, Dauphin County.
For the safety of the public and air show participants, buoys will be placed in the river to mark a temporary exclusion zone which includes the immediate area adjacent to the airport runway and extends to mid-river. Waterways Conservation Officers and other security personnel will be present in the area to redirect boat traffic around the exclusion zone, as necessary. Unauthorized persons and boats who enter the restricted area will result in a delay in air show operations and could be subject to fines and penalties.

Good as Gold: Half-Century for Local Marathon!
Excitement is building as one of the oldest and most challenging distance running events in the eastern United States celebrates its golden anniversary this year. The God’s Country Marathon, scheduled for Saturday, June 7, on the Galeton-to-Coudersport course will be one for the books!
Organizers are planning some special events to mark the 50th year. Among guests who are expected to converge at the courthouse square finish line are the course record-holder, Terry Stanley, race founder Ralph Wentz, and some other notables. As always, runners will answer the starter’s gun at Galeton Area School, progress to U.S. Rt. 6 and “conquer” the grueling course up and over Denton Hill enroute to the courthouse square finish line.

Kenneth C. Ferguson, Jr., 62, of Bradford, passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at his home.
He was born on February 5, 1963 in Youngstown, OH, a son of the late Kenneth Sr., and Madonna Miller Ferguson.
On May 28, 1994 in Pigeon Forge, TN; he married Betsy L. Kaplon who survives.
Penn College Archer All-American
For the first time since 2018, the Pennsylvania College of Technology archery team has an All-American.
Casey Keiter of Dornsife became the 44th Wildcat to earn that distinction as the USA Archery Collegiate Target Nationals wrapped up Saturday at Lansing, Michigan, as a result of his top 10 indoor (9.867) and outdoor (9.208) national scores (19.075 total) in the men’s fixed pins discipline.
Earlier in the week, Penn College’s women’s softball team competed in the NCAA Division III Cleveland Regional, and several softball and baseball players were awarded postseason honors.
This coming week, the college’s United East-championship men’s golf team will compete in the NCAA Division III Championships in the Rochester, New York, area.

David B. LYDIC, 74, of Andrews Settlement, PA, died Thursday, May 15, 2025 in UPMC Cole, Coudersport. Born August 23, 1950, in Wellsville, NY, he was the son of Max B. and Nora E. Thompson Lydic. David was employed by PennDOT for 32 years.
He attended Andrews Settlement Baptist Church. On August 16, 1980, in Andrews Settlement, he married the former Helen F. Oldham, who predeceased him on April 18, 2016.

NPRC Celebrates Graduates at 2025 Commencement Ceremony
CORRY – Northern Pennsylvania Regional College (NPRC) celebrated their annual commencement ceremony on Saturday, May 17 at 2:00 p.m. The event took place at Enchanted Beginnings in Corry, with four students being recognized for completing their certificate or degree programs. The ceremony recognized three students in absentia.
President Snelick opened the celebration by sharing words about the newest collection of graduates and the milestone they accomplished.
Lions Club Serve Local Firefighters
On Saturday, May 17, 2025, the Coudersport Area Lions Club had the pleasure of serving dinner at the annual Coudersport Volunteer Firefighter’s Appreciation Dinner. Our community is blessed to have such a dedicated group of men & women who are willing to risk their lives to help us when there is a fire. It was an honor for the Lions Club to help serve these brave volunteers on this special evening.
The Coudersport Area Lions Club meets the first Monday of each month at 3:00 PM in the Ambulance Hall located at 122 E 2nd Street. The Lions Club is a volunteer organization that supports our local community through service projects.
