Rogers to Step in as Chief Medical Officer of BRMC, OGH
BRADFORD, PA/OLEAN, NY -Jennifer Rogers, MD, has been named the chief medical officer (CMO) of Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), both Kaleida Health facilities. She is anticipated to start on January 15, 2025. Currently, long-time Bradford physician, Luis Gonzalez, MD, is filling the role as interim CMO.
Nancy A. Luke, 92, of Wellsboro
Nancy A. Luke, 92, of Wellsboro, passed away Thursday, November 14, 2024, at UPMC-Wellsboro. She was born on October 31, 1932, in Gettysburg, OH, daughter of the late Harry M. and Hazel A. (Reck) Luzena. She married her high school sweetheart, Gene E. Luke on June 7, 1952, and they have celebrated 72 years of marriage together.
Robert Ellis Martin, 82, of Galeton, PA
Robert Ellis Martin, 82, of Galeton, PA, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2024 at his home. Born on August 9, 1942 in Rochester, NY, he was a son of the late Robert L. and Inez (Cleveland) Martin.
He was 1960 graduate of Galeton High School, attended and earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Lycoming College, and then served in the PA National Guard as a truck driver and medic.
Debra Ann (DeGroat) Larnder, Ridgway, PA
Debra Ann (DeGroat) Larnder passed away peacefully on the afternoon of November 16th, 2024 after a two-and-a-half-year fight with cancer.
Debbie was born to Joseph and Lucille DeGroat on May 12th, 1957 in Ridgway, Pennsylvania. She attended Erie Business College where she earned an associate’s degree in business and enjoyed dancing with her friends at local discotheques. She worked at Sarah Reed Senior Living in Erie, as well as several workplaces in St. Mary’s, PA: GTE Sylvania, SGL Carbon, and CNB Bank.
Ruby E. Truax, 95, of 9084 Beebe Hill Road, Cuba, NY
Ruby E. Truax, 95, of 9084 Beebe Hill Road, Cuba, passed away Friday, November 15, 2024 at home surrounded by her family after a lengthy illness. Born on July 16, 1929, in Estill Springs, Tennessee, she was a daughter of Gustavos Lafayette and Jenny Gertrude (Collins) Gore. On November 30, 1951, in Franklin, Tennessee she married Richard H. Truax, Jr., who survives.
Ruby had worked as a cashier for Market Basket and later for Acme Electric, as a circuit board assembler, retiring in 1993 after 20 years. She was a member of the West Clarksville Baptist Church and Obi Community Church. She enjoyed knitting, cooking, reading, baking, shopping and entertaining her family and friends. For years every Sunday she would cook and host dinner for the “Sunday Dinner Gang”. Having her family all together always brought a smile to her face.
Martin W. “Marty” GODRA, 86, of Wellsboro, PA
Martin W. “Marty” GODRA, 86, of Wellsboro, PA, died Wednesday, November 13, 2024. Born April 25, 1938, in Coatesville, he was the son of Martin Jr. and Elizabeth Dudas Godra. On August 29, 1959, in Parkesburg, he married Ruth Anne Hall, who predeceased him on July 1, 2018.
A U.S. Navy Veteran, he served honorably on the destroyer USS Glennon. He was employed by Lukens Steel Co., Coatesville, taking early retirement in 1981. Martin lived a life of adventure with his wife and sons, backpacking in the west, white water canoeing, hunting with bow and rifle, cross country motorcycle trips, and shooting rifle and pistols. He and Ruth owned and operated a hunting lodge in Maine for four years where he was a master hunting and fishing guide.

Job Announcement: Outreach and Communications Advisor
The Potter County Conservation District is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Outreach and Communications Advisor. The position will be full-time (37.5 hours/week) with a probationary period of six months. The purpose of this position is to oversee the general planning, development, and direction of all communications of the District. Coordinate programs, social media, news releases, and other forms or publication to build and sustain a positive image of the District in the public. The qualified applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be able to obtain required clearances, and a valid driver’s license. Candidates are preferred to have a degree in an Environmental Field (Biology, Environmental Science, Ecology, etc.), Communications, Public Relations, or another related field. The position involves extensive contact, both by phone and in person, with a variety of District customers and partners. The person in this position must have excellent communication skills, a pleasant disposition, be courteous, and detail oriented. Tasks will be assigned and supervised by the District Manager per program needs.

Brian D. Winters, 64, of Ridgway, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at his residence.
He was born on February 16, 1960, in Ridgway, a son of the late Paul “Gene” and Grace “Mitzi” Oertly.
On May 22, 2009, he married Johnna McGrath, who survives.
PITT-BRADFORD TO HOST DINNER, FILM SCREENING FOR NATIVE AMERICAN HERITAGE MONTH
BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will hold a free dinner, screening and discussion of the film “Sky Woman Women” in observance of Native American Heritage Month.
