Cheri L. Schreiber, 33, of New Port Richey, FL, and formerly of St. Marys, PA passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2023 following a year-long battle with cancer.
She was born on November 1, 1989 in St. Marys, PA, a daughter of Robert and Patricia Scutella Haberberger, who survive of Palm Harbor, FL.
On July 7, 2017, she married Thomas “TJ” Schreiber, who survives of New Port Richey.
Together they were blessed with love, laughter, and their beautiful daughter, Wynter.
Cheri was a graduate of St. Marys Area High School, class of 2008, where she was also active with the Swim and Dive Team. She was a graduate of the Toni and Guy School of Cosmetology in Erie, and had worked the past years as a medical receptionist at the St. Marys hospital and at a medical office in New Port Richey. In her free time, she enjoyed arts, crafts, swimming, and spending time at the beach.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is survived by her beloved daughter; Wynter Schreiber; by two sisters; Kelly (Michael) Doerfler and Suzanne (JD) Overturf, and by her in-laws; Benjamin and Diane Schreiber.
Cheri was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Anthony and Jane Scutella, and by her paternal grandparents; Robert and Dorothea Haberberger.
Funeral Services for Cheri L. Schreiber will be held on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Lynch-Green Funeral Home with Ginger Gardner officiating. Burial will follow in Wardvale Cemetery in Johnsonburg.
Visitation will be held at the Lynch-Green Funeral Home on Tuesday, January 31, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the service.

H. LaVonne BLAIR, 87, of Genesee, PA, died Monday, January 23, 2023 in Olean General Hospital, Olean, NY.
Born November 18, 1935, in Pitcairn, she was the daughter of Ellsworth C. “Pete” and Hazel R. Wilson Hysong. On January 29, 1955, in Winchester, VA, she married Robert E. Blair, who predeceased her on March 22, 2002.
A former resident of Irwin, PA, she resided in Genesee since 1971. She was employed by Galeton Production and at Ole Bull State Park for 15 years. LaVonne served as a volunteer at Cole Memorial Hospital and Sweden Valley Manor.
Surviving are: a daughter, Cheryl Young of Genesee; two granddaughters, Jaime (Robert) Stiles of Eldred, PA and Pamela (David) Seifert of Fredericksburg, VA; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Seifert, Caleb Seifert, Riley Stiles, and Ethan Stiles; nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son-in-law, Michael Young; and two brothers, Earl Hysong and Ray Hysong.

ServSafe is a certification program developed by the Restaurant Association Education Foundation. The course meets certification requirements for individuals who are responsible for the safe handling of food in restaurants, schools, elder care facilities, lodges, bed and breakfasts, community centers, and other food concessions (organizations or businesses that sell or prepare food on a regular basis).
This course, taught by Rick Kralj, Penn State Educator, is scheduled for Mondays, March 6 and March 13, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Education Council’s Coudersport office. Penn College has scheduled three clock-hour Practical Nursing Programs for 2023 – two full-time programs in Wellsboro and Coudersport, and a part-time program in Wellsboro only. The first full-time program will start March 14, 2023, and the second full-time program begins September 11, 2023. Students will graduate approximately one year from the start of the program. The part-time program begins June 8, 2023, and students will graduate twenty-two months later.
Qualified nursing instructors provide classroom instruction in theory and nursing skills. Affiliation with UPMC allows for clinical experiences at UPMC Wellsboro and UPMC Cole. Other local healthcare affiliates are also utilized. Graduates earn a certificate in Practical Nursing and are eligible to sit for the NCLEX-PN exam for licensure (LPN). Graduates find jobs in hospitals, long-term care facilities, home health agencies, private homes, physician offices, and other health-related offices.
Information Sessions to acquaint prospective students with the program are scheduled on Thursday, February 2; and Wednesday, February 15. Sessions will take place at 6:30 p.m. at Penn College/Wellsboro, 22 Walnut Street, and will be available live via Zoom at the Education Council’s Coudersport office at 5 Water Street. Ruth N. Clark, 80, a lifelong resident of Coudersport, PA passed away with her loving family by her side on Saturday, January 21, 2023, in UPMC Susquehanna Williamsport, after a short illness.
Born on Sunday, April 26, 1942 in Coudersport, she was a daughter of Warren E. and Kathryn Thompson Bryington. On August 28, 1993 in Port Allegany, she married Richard A. “Dick” Clark, who passed away on October 23, 2004.
Ruth was a graduate of Coudersport High School. She held various positions throughout the years, her last one being a well tender in the field for Dominion Gas in Ellisburg, retiring after 17 years of service. Ruth loved her job, only retiring to spend time with her husband in his retirement.
She was instrumental in establishing the 4-H Club, the Rough Riders, in Coudersport with her best friend, Ruth Wilson of Coudersport, where they taught the members how to care for their horses. They also took members to ride in local parades and compete at various fairs. The “Ruths” also established the Double R Tack Shop so the members could get supplies for their horses. She enjoyed camping, boating, her flowers and plants, and gathering her family together. She also enjoyed hunting and was an excellent marksman. Ruth loved her horses. Her greatest love was her family.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kimberly S. “Kim” (George) Green of Roulette; her daughter-in-law, Lena M. Clark of Coudersport; six grandchildren, Stephanie Green, Travis (Nicole) Green, Kandice (Jason) Gross, Jessica (Travis) Paddison, Terry “Mason” (Megan) Clark, and Ashley K. Simar; eleven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ruth was predeceased by her son, Terry R. Clark, who passed away on November 26, 2022; two sisters, Olive Drabert and Virginia Ninkovich; two brothers, Robert “Bob” Bryington and infant Stanley Bryington.
In keeping with Ruth’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services. Burial will be in the Ulysses Cemetery with her husband.

Lee W. L. Finster, 79, of Coudersport, formerly of Roulette, PA passed away on Friday, January 20, 2023, in UPMC Cole, Coudersport, after a long illness.
Born on Friday, October 15, 1943 in Buffalo, N.Y., he was a son of Joseph G. and Ernestine V. Hyde Finster. On October 12, 2002 in Shinglehouse, he married Georgia Ellen Shenberger, who passed away on July 5, 2020.
Lee graduated from Warren High School in Warren and had attended Erie Business School in Erie. He had been employed by the former Damascus Tannery in Coudersport and by the former Pittsburgh Corning Glass Plant in Port Allegany.
Lee was a former member of the Sons of the American Legion. He enjoyed writing. He loved animals, traveling, and staying home to watch TV.
Surviving are two brothers, George A. (Tonya) Finster of Roulette and David M. Finster of Auburn, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Lee was predeceased by a brother, James Alan Finster; and a sister, Marie M. Russell.
In keeping with Lee’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

Joseph C. “Joe” Goetz, 82, of St. Marys, PA passed away at his home on Sunday, January 22, 2023, following a lengthy illness.
He was born on October 30, 1940 in Ridgway, PA, a son of the late Alphonse and Mary Hasselman Goetz. On November 8, 1959, in St. Marys Church, he married the love of his life, Dorothy Portzer Goetz, who survives. Together they were blessed with more than 63 years of marriage.
Joe was a lifelong resident of the area and member of St. Marys Church. He was a talented Master Carpenter, having created many pieces of custom-made works of art over the years. Having built his home from the ground up, he spent his time filling it not only with love and compassion for his wife and family, but with many beautiful displays of cabinets, furniture, and keepsakes.
A kind, loving man of deep faith, he was a devoted father and husband who loved and appreciated his family and spent his days honoring his wife. He also had a passion for animals, and he delighted in spoiling his 2 cats, Lilly and Cutie.
In addition to his wife of 63 years, Dorothy Portzer Goetz, he is survived by 3 daughters; Denise “Dee” (Rick) Danner of Emporium, Tama (Joe) Foster of St. Marys, and Lynnette “Lynn” (Marty) Reuscher of Knoxville, TN; and by 3 beloved grandchildren; Joe, Alec, and Courtney. He is also survived by 2 great-grandchildren; Bently and Kaden as well as by a sister; Grace Cocoran of CA, and by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter; Kaylee Hostetlar, a brother; Theodore Goetz, a sister; Rita Kubaski, and by an aunt and uncle who helped raise him; Clarence Goetz and Martha Goetz.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Joseph C. Goetz will be celebrated on Friday, January 27, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.

McKean County District Attorney Stephanie Vettenburg-Shaffer reports that charges have been filed in connection with a Kane man’s death in August.
By criminal complaint filed by Trooper Eric Thompson, Michael Cunningham, formerly of Kane, was charged with Drug Delivery Resulting in Death, Involuntary Manslaughter, Delivery of a Controlled Substance, Criminal Use of a Communication Device, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
On August 11, 2022, Police, Fire and Ambulance were dispatched due to a man being found unresponsive in the bathroom of an apartment on Edgar James Street. He was pronounced deceased. (The name of the victim has been omitted from this release out of respect for the family.) The matter was referred to the State Police for investigation. A cause of death was determined to be Fentanyl Toxicity.
Cunningham was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Engman. Bail was set at $500,000. Cunningham was remanded to the McKean County Jail and scheduled for central court.

Patrick Weakland passed away peacefully on December 21, 2022 at home with family,
following a brief illness.
Pat was born on November 4, 1934 in Chest Springs, Pennsylvania, to Helen (Sherry) and Modestus Weakland, the oldest of their ten children.
On October 17, 1953, he married his high school sweetheart, Malvina Westrick, who passed away
in May of 2022. They were married for 68 years.
In the late 50’s they moved to Hamburg, New York, where they lived for over 40 years and raised six children. Pat worked as a professional landscaper for Turtle’s Nursery for over 25 years and later, retired after 20 years at the Ford Stamping Plant.
He was an avid hunter and a life long fan of the Buffalo Bills. He also loved classic John Deere tractors, woodworking, tinkering, classic country music and spoiling his canine friends.
Pat and Mally retired to Mount Jewett, PA in 1996 and lived there for 20 years before moving to Boerne, Texas.
Whether it was putting in a vegetable garden, tending to his flowers and shrubs, or helping out a neighbor, he never sat still long. He was generous with his time and talents, sharing them with his family, friends and his church.
In addition to his wife, Mally, he was a preceded in death by his son, Amandus, his brother, Roy and his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Brennan.
He is survived by five children: Karen (Del) Eulberg, Boerne, TX; Lucinda Weakland, Harrison Valley, PA; Wayne (Anna) Weakland, Petrolia, WV; Jeanette (Mark) Ernewein, Hamburg, NY; and Judi Kogler, Hamburg, NY; 10 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is also survived by three brothers: Earl Weakland, Harvey Weakland and Robert Weakland, and four sisters: Edna Miller, Stella Kline, Verna Petrie, Dorothy Teribury.
A funeral mass / a celebration of life will be held at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church in Smethport on March 25th at 11:00 a.m. preceded by a rosary at 10:00 a.m.

Marion E. VANORDEN, 94, of Westfield, PA, died Saturday, January 21, 2023 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.
Born December 29, 1928, in Westfield, she was the daughter of Arthur L. and Grace E. Nickerson Seeley. She was a homemaker and a lifelong area resident.
Surviving are: three children, Donna Glover of Coudersport, Richard Seeley of Addison, NY, and Debbie Williams of Plymouth, VA; several grandchildren including Christina Glover of Coudersport; a brother, Franklin (Sharon) Seeley of Westfield; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Richard Vanorden; a son, Matthew Smith; four brothers, Clayton Seeley, Floyd Seeley, Lawrence H. Seeley, and Dee Seeley; and four sisters, Evelyn Jadoski, Maryetta Ruth Seeley, Lula Causer, and Pauline Williams Buchholz.

Herbert C. “Herbie” Nussbaum, Jr., 73, formerly of Poplar Road, St. Marys, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 22, 2023, at Penn Highlands Elk following a brief illness.
He was born on February 17, 1949 in St. Marys, a son of the Herbert and Edna Thompson Nussbaum.
On April 19, 1973, at St. Marys, he married the late Sandra Kephart, who preceded him in death on February 16, 2021. Together they shared nearly 48 years of marriage.
Herbie was a lifelong resident of the area and was Catholic by faith. He worked for many years at the lumber mill. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and camping. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, especially his great-niece and great-nephew.
He is survived by a brother; Roger Nussbaum of Johnsonburg, and by a sister; Wanda Fulton of Johnsonburg, as well as by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a son; Herbert “Butch” Nussbaum in 2020, a daughter; Jean Marie Nussbaum in 1976, and by a brother; Lester Nussbaum.

Thomas C. Nellis, Jr., 49, of Brockway, PA passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, January 21, 2023.
He was born on August 8, 1973 in St. Marys, PA, a son of Thomas Nellis of Emporium and the late LouAnn Botera Nellis, who preceded him in death on July 19, 2021.
On August 10, 1994 in Emporium, he married Amy Burkey Nellis, who survives.
Tom was a member of Sacred Heart Church and spent many years working outdoors, always enjoying farming and logging. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
In addition to his wife of more than 28 years, Amy Burkey Nellis, he is survived by 2 children; Devin Thomas Nellis of Ridgway and Darien Heather (Brandon Martz) Nellis of Eldred; and by his 2 beloved grandchildren; Brentley and Moxson.
He is also survived by four siblings; Tammy (Lee) Pearsall, Fantasia (Frank) Dourado, Brittany McKelvey, and Nicholas (Heather) Nellis, as well as by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.
