Zora M. Wysocki, 98, former Portville, NY Resident
Zora M. Wysocki, a former resident of Portville, passed away Sunday (April 23, 2023) at the Pines Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Olean, where she had been residing.
Born April 21, 1925, in Wichita Kan., she was the daughter of the late Hiram and Lelia Miller Wakefield. On Sept. 16, 1944, in Cuba, she married Adam M. Wysocki, who predeceased her Dec. 24, 1977.
Zora was a graduate of Cuba Central School. She had worked for many years for ACME Electric in Allegany and later in Cuba.
She was a Ceres United Methodist Church member and enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards and doing word search puzzles. Most of all, she was a devoted mom and loved spending time with her children and family.
She is survived by five children, Margaret (Richard) Mix of Oviedo, Fla., Janet (John) Rees of Shinglehouse, Pa., Martin (Kathy) Wysocki of Portville, Sandra Peterson of Ceres, Pa. and Eileen (Carl) Burd Jr. of Baldwinsville; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Zora was predeceased by her four brothers and five sisters.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 p.m. Thursday (April 27, 2023) at the Guenther Funeral Home, Inc., 51 S. Main St., Portville and again from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Friday (April 28, 2023). Funeral services will begin at 12:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Rev. Preston Hutchins Jr., of Shinglehouse Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Our Lady of Angels Cemetery, Cuba.
