UPMC Support Staff Honored With BEE Award

Williamsport, Pa., February 5, 2026 – JayAnne Hall, patient care technician, UPMC Williamsport; Sue Minotti, supply specialist, Hospital Operations, UPMC Muncy; Shane Allen, support technician, Surgical Services, UPMC Williamsport; and Astacia Tyler, CNA, Muncy Place, wererecently recognized with the BEE Award for theiroutstanding support of nursing teams.
The BEE Award, meaning Be Extraordinary Every Day, recognizes the care team that supports nursing staff and works closely with them to provide patients with the compassion and care they need.
JayAnne was nominated by a patient who shared:
“JayAnne was so kind and thoughtful. We discussed how a warm blanket on my abdomen helped sooth the pain. Through her shift, she would show up with a warm blanket and quietly change them. She always brought fresh water as well. When I told her I felt nauseous and couldn’t eat my dinner, she brought me a ginger ale, saltines, and a cup of ice without me having to ask. She was an angel to me in my moments of pain and vulnerability. Everyone needs a JayAnne during their hospital stay. She calmed my heart.”
Sue was nominated by a co-worker who shared:
“Sue always goes above and beyond. Recently, she was off for a few days, and we noticed that many of our normal items were not stocked on the floor. The first day that she came back, without us even having to ask, she came to the floor with a cart of everything we needed. She always has a smile on her face and is such a sweet lady. She recently facilitated an upgrade for our medical storage room and it looks amazing. It is so much more user-friendly and organized. We absolutely adore Sue.”
Shane was nominated by a co-worker who shared:
“During change of shift from second to third, I went into a room in the OR suite where staff were preparing to put a patient under for an emergency procedure. I saw Shane with his forearm under the patient supporting them as he talked to and comforted the patient. I was certain they were a family member or old friend by how genuine and compassionate Shane was in his interactions. After the patient was finally under anesthesia and Shane could finally stand up and stretch out his back, I asked him how he knew the patient. I was surprised when he informed me that he had just met the patient 10 minutes earlier but stepped in to hold and comfort the patient who was frightened and in pain.”
Astacia was nominated by a resident who shared:
“Astacia goes above and beyond for my roommate and I. She helps keep my mind working by giving me something to do that I truly enjoy. She brings me books every day that I thoroughly enjoy reading. Astacia advocates for me and all my needs. Not only am I happy to see her as my aide each day, but I also know other residents on this unit are as well. She brightens our day and gets all things accomplished, happily.”
