The student of the week nomination is Jaiden Thomas. Jaiden is a senior at Smethport Area High School. For the past three years, at the Seneca Highlands CTC Health Assistance Program, Jaiden has been an exemplary student who prides himself on his stellar academic achievements. In the classroom, he is always willing to assist his fellow students in any subject, especially math and science. He is a valued team member in the lab setting because of his willingness to try anything and to help anyone.

He enjoys the learning process and looks for new opportunities to advance his knowledge and skill level. To prepare for his future, Jaiden has taken dual enrollment classes in psychology, anatomy and physiology, and medical terminology. He has also spent his summers obtaining additional college credits through Northern Pennsylvania Regional College and the University of Pennsylvania. Last summer, he also spent time at Harvard and the University of Michigan exploring their medical programs. Jaiden has participated in SkillsUSA for the past two years and is scheduled to participate this year as well. While at the CTC, he has already earned certifications in OSHA 10, BLS, Stop the Bleed, and the PA Nurse Aide Registry. 

Jaiden is a well-rounded student. He participates in the Smethport High School Marching Band and in various community-related activities. He is an active member of the Seneca Highlands CTC Student Committee, where he participates in community service activities, student advocacy, and planning school-related activities. In addition, he currently works at Lakeview Senior Care Center in Smethport as a nursing assistant. Previous to this, he worked at Costa’s Supermarket in Smethport, where he learned important skills about customer service, integrity, dependability, and teamwork. All of these experiences will serve as a launching pad into his preferred career as a medical doctor. 

The future is looking bright for Mr. Thomas as he prepares to complete his high school journey and venture into adulthood. Jaiden is a prime example of how a person can pursue their dreams through enrollment in an education at Seneca Highlands CTC. By taking advantage of every opportunity at the CTC, he has gained the academic and personal preparation for his future goals.
