Stephen (Steve) Lee Cornell, 78, Middlebury Center, PA
On the morning of Monday, August 7, 2023, a great loss was felt by the family and friends of Stephen (Steve) Lee Cornell. A brave man with great courage, who taught his loved ones to persevere through challenges and heartache, to embrace life, to acknowledge one’s blessings, and to cherish each moment you have with the ones you love.
Steve’s children: Mary (Curt) Owlett, Carol (Carl) Buss, James (Kelly) Cornell and Christine (Gary) Cardinale along with his nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren will forever be blessed by knowing and loving him.
Steve inspired those around him to work hard, to serve your community, to accept differences, to forgive others, and to give forth kindness and generosity. His presence in our lives will be deeply missed.
Steve was the youngest child born to Nate and Marie Cornell on 11/20/44. He resided in Middlebury Center with his siblings David, Dale, and Barbara. He is preceded in death by his wives Rose Cochran and Lucille (Wendy) Spagnola.
You may have encountered his presence at Cornell Bros. Inc., Cornell’s Country Plaza, the Middlebury Post Office, the former Donna’s Corner Market, any golf course from here to South Carolina, a friendly poker game, a Saturday afternoon Mass, or a Sunday morning Church Service. In the past year, with the encouragement of his companion, Peggy Westmoreland he learned to share his love for others openly, honestly, and without fear.
Steve and his family greatly appreciate the love and support given to them by our extended family, friends, and neighbors. We are grateful for the encouragement and support given to us throughout his illness by Rev. Bryan Wright, Pastor Ed Siddle and the UPMC Palliative Care and Hospice teams. Steve would give you all two thumbs up! Happy Trails!
His family has entrusted his arrangements to the Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.
The family is planning a Celebration of Stephen’s life to take place in the Fall.
