Penn College Athletics at a Glance

Last week in review: Pennsylvania College of Technology winter sports teams all tasted victory in conference action, with the women’s basketball team recording its third double-digit-win season in six campaigns under coach Britni Mohney.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
Last week’s hometown highlights: Five players scored in double figures as the Wildcats snapped a six-game losing streak on Wednesday at Keystone College. Leading the offense in the United East win were Peyton Murphy, of Gallipolis, Ohio, with 17 points, Octavio Alexander, of Dallas, Texas, with 14 points, and Jay Henry, of Warminster, with 12 points.
At home on Saturday in a high-scoring UE win over Wilson College, Landon Reeder, of Montoursville, scored 28 points — including a game-winning trey as time expired — and had 12 rebounds, Alexander tallied 21 points and had 10 rebounds, Henry scored 16 points and handed out 10 assists, Murphy scored 16 points, and Owen Newcomer, of Newell, added 12 points.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL
Last week’s hometown highlights: With Gigi Parlante, of Williamsport, pouring in 27 points, Penn College outscored Keystone 37-11 in the two middle periods as it snapped a four-game loss string on Wednesday. Also for the Wildcats in the UE victory, Kayla Herzer, of Brick, New Jersey, added 14 points, and Mia Patterson, of Loyalsock Township, chipped in with 13 points. Both Parlante and Lexi Troup, of Huntingdon, had 10 rebounds.
Hosting Wilson College on Saturday, a solid second half paved the way to a UE win as Patterson scored 15 points, Troup had 13 and Parlante had 12.

WRESTLING
Last week’s hometown highlights: Three Wildcats, Blake Dergham, of Slatington, at 133 pounds, Chase Shaner, of Hughesville, at 141, and Carter Davis, of York, at 165, finished the day with 3-0 records at the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference Duals on Saturday. Shaner decked his Pitt-Bradford opponent in 18 seconds. Also, Harris Keares, of York, at 125, David M’Balla, of Easton, at 157, and Nic Brotzman, of Marietta, at 285 all ended 2-1, with Brotzman recording two falls.
AMCC standings: Penn State Behrend 4-0, Penn College 3-1, Alfred State 2-2, Pitt-Bradford 1-3, Penn State Altoona 0-4.
