Patricia M. Hain of N 19th Street, Olean, NY, formerly of Shinglehouse, PA passed away on August 3, 2023 at the Olean General Hospital with her loving husband by her side, following an illness.

Patricia was born on December 12, 1941, in Richland, PA and was the daughter of Lee J. and Dorothy E. Noll Gingrich. On June 10, 1961, in Lebanon, PA she married her loving husband, Roger N. Hain who survives.

Patricia was a 1959 graduate of Northern Lebanon High School. She lived in the Lebanon area until her husband became ordained and became the pastor of a church in Reading, PA where they lived for 3 years. Together they moved to Harrisburg for 2 years before moving to Shinglehouse where her husband pastored at Bell Run Union Church then started Grace Bible Independent Baptist Church where she was the church secretary for about 7 years.

Joseph Tominez, 90, of Birch Street, Bradford, PA

Joseph Tominez, 90, of Birch Street, Bradford, PA passed away peacefully, Thursday, August 3, 2023, after a brief illness. 

Born April 24, 1933, in Bradford, the youngest of nine to the late Frank and Eva (Katzuna) Tominez. 

Joe was a 1952 graduate of Bradford Area High School. He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. 

On April 15, 1961, in Our Mother Perpetual Help Church, he married Jane Ann (Kervin) Tominez, who preceded him in death on August 22, 1994.

Monica Mae Himes, 78, Ridgway, PA

Monica Mae Himes, 78, peacefully enter into God’s Kingdom on Thursday, August 3, 2023, surrounded by loved ones, after complications from Parkinson’s.

She was born on December 15, 1944, in, a daughter to the late Paul “Poik” and Isabell Dippold Streich.  She was the youngest of three children, a sister Pauline Hooven and a brother, Winston Streich.

On August 19, 1961, she married the love of her life, Sylvester Himes who preceded in death in 2011. She went on to have 2 children, Deb Himes and John Himes.

In addition to her daughter, Deb, she is survived by grandchild,  Jessica Miller, and 4 great grandchildren: Andrew, Honey, Gemma, and Dom.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded death by her sister and brother, a son, John Himes, and a grandson, Steven Gnan.

Monica was employed at Johnson’s egg farm, Alpha Sintered, and as a people greeter at Walmart. She loved church and loved sharing the love and warmth of Jesus Christ.

A Memorial Services for Monica Mae Himes will be held on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at 2:00 PM at New Hope in Christ Church, 10 Gillis Ave., Ridgway, PA 15853.

Memorial contributions may be made to New Hope in Christ.

Daniel R. Tucker, 75, of 588 Ketner Rd., Glen Hazel, PA passed away Thursday morning, August 3, 2023 at LECOM at Presque Isle Rehab and Nursing Center, Erie following a brief illness.

He was born on February 1, 1948 in St. Marys, a son to the late Joseph and Virginia Field Tucker. Daniel grew up in St. Marys and attended Elk County Christian High School. On September 8, 1984 in Ridgway, he married Mary Ann Field and she survives.

Bridge Preservation Work Underway Near Port Allegany

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that work on a Route 6 bridge spanning the Allegheny River in Liberty Township, McKean County, is underway. This work is part of a larger bridge preservation project involving three structures in McKean and Potter counties that will improve their overall condition ratings.

Work on the Route 6 bridge, the Lieutenant Colonel Richard J. Berrettini Memorial Bridge, started Wednesday with the closure of one lane and the activation of temporary traffic signals. Those signals enforce an alternating traffic pattern where drivers take turns crossing the bridge via the open lane.

Bradford Police Arrest Man on Warrants

Aug 4th, 2023 Description On July 31st, 2023 City of Bradford Police Department located Arthur Kendall on Marion Avenue and arrested him on two separate arrest warrants both in relation to possession of drug paraphernalia.

Magistrate Cercone set bail at $1000.00 and Magistrate Luther set bail on the second warrant for $2,500.00 Kendall did not post bail and remanded to McKean County Jail.

Unwanted Female Had Drugs

On August 3rd, 2023 at approximately 1219 hrs City of Bradford Police responded to the Holiday Inn Express on Tarport Drive for a report of trespassing with an unwanted female on property.

Hotel staff could not wake the female in the room. Officers had additional concern for the females safety and acted up this as a welfare check along with a trespassing investigation.

As the Officers made contact with the female Natasha Lynn Skaggs, 34, there was Cocaine observed in plain sight. Skaggs had warrants for her arrest as well. Officers brought Skaggs to the Police Station and determined she had a large amount of Methamphetamine on her as well and it was being possessed with intent to sell.

Officers charged Skaggs accordingly with Felony Possession with intent to deliver and several related charges. Magistrate William Todd arraigned Skaggs and set bail at $20,000 strait. Skaggs was remanded to McKean County Jail and preliminary hearings are set in the matter.

At 152 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 33
miles east of St. Marys, moving east at 30 mph. Other strong storms
were forming nearby.

HAZARD…Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.

SOURCE…Radar indicated.

IMPACT…Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
possible.

Locations impacted include…
Cross Fork, Tamarack, Cedar Run, Cammal, Slate Run, Waterville and
Hyner.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

PennDOT Issues Update on I-80 Repair Work at Exit 97

Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) updated motorists on a change in traffic pattern on Interstate 80 westbound in Sandy Township, Clearfield County. The contractor will shift traffic into the right (travel) lane at exit 97/Brockway-DuBois on Monday, August 7, as part of a project to improve the ride quality and extend the life of the roadway surface.

Traffic impacts through the work zone during the first phase of this repair work have been significant during peak travel times. PennDOT urges drivers to build extra time into their schedules where possible, exercise caution in this and all work zones, obey posted speed limits, and always buckle up. It does not expect this shift to impact traffic exiting I-80 via the off-ramp.

PennDOT anticipates the contractor completing these repairs in another two weeks. All work is weather and schedule dependent. Francis J. Palo, Inc., of Clarion, PA, is the contractor on this project.

The 17th Season of the Endless Mountain Music Festival will end with three EMMF Orchestra concerts, this Friday, Aug. 4 at Mansfield University, this Saturday, Aug. 5 at the Corning Museum of Glass and a free Pops concert at 2:30 p.m. this Sunday, Aug. 6 at the open-air Nasser Ice Rink at the Corning Civic Center Plaza in Corning, N.Y.

At 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4 in Mansfield University’s Steadman Theater, the EMMF Orchestra conducted by Stephen Gunzenhauser, will  “Fill the Hall with Great Sound,” including Shostakovich’s “Symphony No. 9, ” Haydn’s “Concerto in C Major” featuring Gita Ladd on cello and Brahms’ “Symphony No. 1.” BOGO, buy one, get one free tickets, will be available at the door on Aug. 4 for that night’s concert.

On Saturday, Aug. 5 at 7 p.m. at the Corning Museum of Glass, Corning, N.Y. the EMMF Orchestra and Gunzenhauser will present “Nothing But the Best” with Wagner’s “Die Meistersinger” Overture, Stravinsky’s “Pulcinella Suite” and Dvořák’s “Symphony No. 9” ”From the New World.”

BUY GOLF BALL DROP TICKETS NOW FOR CHANCE TO WIN $5,000 DURING LIVE HELICOPTER BALL DROP AT TYOGA GOLF COURSE ON SATURDAY, SEPT. 9

At approximately 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 9, a helicopter will drop golf balls on the 18th hole at the Tyoga Golf Course at 759 Route 660, Wellsboro. 

The ticket holder for the ball landing closest to the hole will win $5,000 and a $500 bonus if he or she is present for the ball drop. The person whose ball drops second closest to the hole will win $1,000 and the one whose ball lands third closest will win $500. There will also be a prize of $250 for the person whose ball lands furthest from the hole. 

Activities surrounding this event will begin at 4 p.m. at the Tyoga Golf Course with live music and corn hole, Frisbee and other games for kids and adults to play. Those who want to eat at the Tyoga Bar & Grill can choose items that will be available and dine in the restaurant or on the patio. On the menu are: wings, burgers, and a 12-ounce Delmonico with sides.

For tickets, stop in at the Wellsboro Area Chamber of Commerce office at 114 Main Street in Wellsboro weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m.; at the Tyoga Golf Course’s Tyoga Bar & Grill restaurant between 10:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. daily; or at the Tyoga Pro Shop between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. daily. 

Golf ball drop tickets are $100 each with a maximum of 400 available for purchase  

Proceeds from the Ball Drop will benefit Tyoga Inc. and the Wellsboro Foundation, which supports the Pennsylvania State Laurel Festival.
