The family and friends of Joseph R. Luchini, Jr. are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated in the St. Boniface Church on Friday, June 23, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Kevin Holland, Pastor, officiating. Full military rites will be accorded by the Fox Township Servicemen’s Burial Detail. Burial will be in the St. Boniface Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the St. Boniface Church Gathering Space from 9:30 AM until the time of Mass.
Expiration of Allegany County’s Emergency Declaration

RE: Expiration of Allegany County’s Emergency Declaration
As of June 18, 2023, at 1:00 p.m., Allegany County’s Declaration of Emergency concerning the migrant crisis is no longer in effect. The decision to decline renewal of the Declaration came after careful consideration and consultation with the County Administrator, County Attorney, Social Services Commissioner, and Sheriff Scott Cicirello.
We are not aware of any migrants or asylum seekers associated with New York City’s crisis entering our County, nor have we received communication from the State that any migrant placements within Allegany County are planned or imminent. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and are prepared to issue a new Declaration and Orders if deemed necessary and appropriate.
Vehicle Crash Into Swamp on Rt. 21

At 12:32 PM on Monday, Alfred & Alfred Station have been dispatched to Rt. 21 near the Alfred/Andover town line for a vehicle crash off the roadway into about 3 feet of water in the middle of the swamp. Injured occupant is reported still in the vehicle. Andover rescue truck requested to scene.
Anna May Stickler, age 84

Anna May Stickler, age 84, passed away peacefully in the loving care of her family on Friday, June 16, 2023.
She was born September 27, 1939 to Forest and Ethel (Newell) Corwin in Caton, NY.
She had one sibling Jack Corwin of Caton, NY, who passed away.
Anna lived a full event filled life enjoying spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed flowers, birds, butterflies, angels and caring for others.
She will be remembered by her loving children, Cindy Case, Betty Case, Earil (Deborah) Case, Sr., Tammy Case, Cathy Wright, Eleanor (Kevin) Holmes and Tina (Russ) West. She fully enjoyed her 18 grandkids, 20 great grandkids and 1 great great grandchild. She will be deeply missed.

Timothy Paul Williams, 66 of Corning, NY

Timothy Paul Williams, 66 of Corning, NY passed away peacefully at home on June 13, 2023 in the presence of his sisters Debbie and Jeannie.
Tim was born on November 18, 1956 in Corning to Kenneth and Myra Drew Williams.
He was a loving son, brother, father and friend to many, always ready to lend a helping hand with a smile.
Tim is survived by a son Shannon (Gretchen) Williams, brothers Robert (Ruby) Drew and Clifford Williams, sisters Donna Causer, Paula Paddock, Rebecca (John) Matsis, Deborah (Reed) Seeley, Naomi (Gerald) Semler, Jeanne Winfield and Ann Oliver.
Tim was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Paul Williams and David Williams.
A celebration of life will be held on August 5, 2023. Location to be announced. Arrangements are in care of Kenyon Funeral Home, Elkland.
Linda L. Phillips, 81, of Shinglehouse, PA

“beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”
Linda L. Phillips, 81, of Shinglehouse, PA passed away at home with her loving children by her side on Saturday, June 17, 2023, after a long illness.
Born on Tuesday, March 24, 1942 in Cuba, N.Y., she was a daughter of Edward and June Kingsbury Lamb. On March 28, 1964 in the West Clarksville Baptist Church, she married Clifford “PeeWee” Phillips, who passed away on July 21, 2022.
Linda was a graduate of Richburg High School, Class of 1960, in Richburg, N.Y. She was first employed in Olean, N.Y. by the former Clark Brothers and later by McGraw Edison. In August of 1974, Linda and her husband moved to Florida, where Linda was employed as an administrative assistant for over 19 years by the City of Kissimmee and later for 12 years for the Osceola County Courthouse working in several different offices.
Snowbirds till 2015, Linda and PeeWee made their permanent home in Shinglehouse in 2016. While living in Florida, Linda was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Kissimmee where she loved playing the organ, piano, and singing in the choir. In Shinglehouse, she attended the Bell Run Union Church. She was a very faithful woman. In her early years, Linda enjoyed roller skating, spending time at the former Coliseum in Ceres, N.Y., where she met the love of her life, PeeWee. She also enjoyed bowling in her younger years. Her greatest loves were her family and the Lord.
Left to cherish her memory are a son, Tim E. Phillips of Shinglehouse; a daughter, Kimberly Phillips Udstad of Shinglehouse; three grandchildren, Norman A. (Josie) Udstad IV, Wyatt D. Udstad, and Faith A. (Phillip “QB”) Steinmetz; eight great-grandchildren; a sister, Vaunda (Bill) Stagi of Kissimmee, FL; a sister-in-law, Beverly “Sue” (Joe) Riehle of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews
Linda was predeceased by her parents and her beloved husband of 58 years.
There will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held in the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, with Pastor Chad E. Shaffer, of Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, officiating. Graveside burial services will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

Marguerite E. “Peg” Smith, 87, of Smethport, PA

Marguerite E. “Peg” Smith, 87, of Smethport, PA passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side and joining her husband in heaven on Thursday (June 15, 2023) at UPMC-Cole, Coudersport.
She was born April 23, 1936 in Farmers Valley, the daughter of Roy and Verna (Ross) Miller. On March 9, 1957, in Farmers Valley, PA, she married Herbert A. Smith, who died March 24, 2015.
Peg was a graduate of Smethport Area High School and attended New Penn Beauty School, where she received her certification as a beautician.
Peg had several jobs over the years, but being a beautician was her mainstay. She worked at the courthouse for a brief period of time. She owned and operated her own shop as well as traveled to Sena Kean Manor and to her elder client’s homes to do their hair.
She attended the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport and enjoyed indoor and outdoor plants, bird watching (especially hummingbirds), doing puzzles, watching figure skating and Polka Dancing. She loved listening to Gospel Music and old Country Music. Peg was always smiling and giving words of encouragement to friends and family.
She is survived by:
One son: James L. Smith of Smethport
One daughter: Naomi S. (Donald) Raught of Smethport
Grandchildren: Jessica Raught, Caleb Raught, Micah Raught, Jamie (Justin) Smith Swede, Jacob Raught, Collin Smith, Brittney Smith, Aaron Raught, Natalie Smith and Noah Raught

In addition to her parents and husband, Peg was preceded in death by four brothers: Frank, Robert William and infant Leonard Miller; four sisters: Gertrude Freeman, Jane Fillhart, infant Charlotte Miller and closest sister and best friend, Muriel Towner.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023 from 11AM to noon at the Free Christian Evangelical Church of Smethport, where a memorial service will begin at noon with the Rev. B.J. Simms, pastor, officiating.

Katherine Marie Teed, 91, of Morris, PA

Katherine Marie Teed, 91, of Morris, PA, passed away June 17, 2023 at the Green Home. She was born July 28, 1931 in Pine Township, PA to John “Jack” and May (Minier) Teed, one of their 12 children. She graduated from high school and retired from Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital. Katherine loved to garden, fish, hunt and spend time with her family.
Katherine is survived by two siblings and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and 9 siblings.

Gordon R. “Dick” Johnson, 91, of 1984 Prentisvale Road, Eldred, PA

Gordon R. “Dick” Johnson, 91, of 1984 Prentisvale Road, Eldred, PA passed away Saturday, June 17, 2023, at his residence, with his wife by his side.
Born on December 26, 1931, in Bradford, he was a son of the late, Gordon O. and Elva L. (Higley) Johnson.
He was a graduate of the Limestone Union Free School.
On September 6, 1952, he married Helen (Maben) Johnson, who preceded him in death on August 4, 1998. On October, 7, 2000, in the Bradford Alliance Church, he married Margaret A. “Peg” (Lowe) Vanscoter Johnson, who survives.
He worked as a mechanic for Browns Service and Milton Supply, Servomation as a cleaner, and for 30 years as a foreman at W.R. Case Cutlery, where he retired in 1992.
Dick was a member of the Bradford Alliance Church, and recently attended the Church of God in Eldred. He was a Limestone Volunteer Fireman for many years.
Surviving in addition to his wife Peg of 22 years, and seven sons, James H. (Valarie) Johnson, of Great Mills, MD, Dennis L. (Bonnie) Johnson, of Limestone, NY, Roger A. (Merri) Johnson, of Bossier City, LA, Charles A. (Tiffany) Johnson, of Bradford, Paul (Cheryl) Vanscoter, of Eldred, Mike (Jamie Whiteman) Vanscoter, of Eldred, and Matthew (Tammy) Vanscoter, of Port Allegany, three daughters, Debra L. (Danny) Clark, of Limestone, NY, Faye A. Dickerson, of Andover NY, and Brenda (Jeff) Moyer, of Shinglehouse, one brother, Howard Johnson, of Bradford, one sister, Brenda L. (Bill) Carpenter of Olean, NY, 26 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Helen, brother Merle Johnson, twin sisters, Shirley Bremiller and Sharon Johnson.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, June 22, 2023, from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Bradford Alliance Church, at 3:00 pm funeral services will be held with Rev. Rob Jeffery, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Limestone Cemetery.

Emma Podobinski, a June 2 graduate of Warrior Run High School in Turbotville was crowned the 2023 Pennsylvania State Laurel Queen during the Saturday, June 17 coronation that began at 6:30 p.m. in the Wellsboro Area High School auditorium. She was awarded a $3,000 educational scholarship and is the daughter of Emily Ayers of Watsontown and Michael Podobinski of Clarks Summit.
