Robert William Chambers, age 96, of Wellsboro, PA, passed away on Sunday, April 30th, 2023, at home surrounded by family. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Roque Joseph Chambers and Anna Marie (Durkin) Chambers.
Robert served as Signalman 3rd class in the U.S Navy during World War II, before being called back to active duty during the Korean War. He had a great passion for reading about his country’s history and was a remarkable storyteller. Robert also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and gardening.
Robert was the supervisor/Chief Switchman for Bell of PA for many years, and member of the St. Peters Catholic Church of Wellsboro.
Robert is survived by his wife of 74 years, Marguerite Joan “Marge” Chambers of Wellsboro, 2 daughters, Mary Ann Pelkey of Wellsboro, PA, and Marguerite “Peggy” (Michael) Pacholski of Marlton, NJ; 4 grandchildren; Michael Robert Pelkey, Meghan Allison Selander, Michael Christopher Pacholski, Robert Matthew Pacholski. 5 great grandchildren; Marguerite Jean Selander, Rebecca Marie Selander, Abigail Marilyn Selander, Emma Rose Pacholski, Jack Michael Pacholski. He is proceeded in death by his parents, his brothers Roque Jr., John Chambers, and sister Ann Land.

Penny M. (Clark) Reese, age 63, of Middlebury Center, PA, died on Sunday, April 30, 2023.
She was born on April 26, 1960 in Blossburg, PA a daughter of the late Gary J. Clark and Mary E. (Grover) Clark and was married for over 30 years to Leonard “Lenny” Reese.

Moira A. Wheeler, 66, of West Seneca, NY, formerly of Bradford, PA passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at her home.
She was born on September 11, 1956 in Bradford, a daughter of the late Walter and Mary Chiarilli Wheeler.
She was a 1974 graduate of the Bradford Area High School and she earned her certificate in nursing from the former Indiana School of Nursing, Indiana.
She was employed by the Buffalo General Hospital as a registered nurse for forty years; retiring in 2020.
Moira enjoyed her daily Tim Horton’s coffee, doing crossword puzzles and working on her family’s genealogy. She especially loved spending time with her family and her work family.
She is survived by one sister, Marsha (Kurt) Keller of Bradford; one niece, Liz (Zak) Heintzman of Amherst, NY; one nephew, Ben Keller of Austin, TX; one great niece, Emma Heintzman and one great nephew, Nicholas Heintzman; all of whom affectionately called her Aunt Moma.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 6, 2023 from 11:00 AM until Noon at the Mascho Funeral Home, Inc. with a memorial service to immediately follow at noon in the funeral home with the Rev. John Jacquel, pastor of the St. Bernard Catholic Church, officiating.
Private burial will be in St. Bernard Cemetery.

Edward E. Vaughan, 78, of Warren, PA., died suddenly of natural causes, Saturday, April 29, 2023, at U.P.M.C. Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh, PA.
Ed was born November 21, 1944, in Warren, PA. He was the son of Clifford and P. Avanell Kelly Vaughan.
Ed was a lifelong Warren area resident and had resided in Budapest, Hungary while working for Lorangers Manufacturing, working there from the beginning of operations until their closure. He was still actively working doing carpentry and electrical work which he took great pride in until his passing and enjoyed sharing his talent with so many.
He was a very proud U.S. Army Veteran serving in the Vietnam War.
Ed enjoyed coin and stamp collecting, model railroads and wine making. He enjoyed telling stories of his shenanigans throughout life. He was a huge animal lover and adored his furry companion, Queenie. He loved the Hungarian people, and their culture and made many lifelong friends there.
Even though Ed was 78 years old, he always felt in his mind, that he was very young at heart.
He is survived by his daughter, Tina Vaughan Moore and husband, Marty, his dear friend, Bonnie Gray all of Warren, PA., 2 stepdaughters – Kim and Lori Carvelli, 1 sister – Patricia L. Vaughan, 1 special niece – Brenda Covell both of Ormond Beach, FL, 1 special nephew – Troy Kasick of Allentown, PA., several other nieces, and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Vera Lynne Vaughan Kasick who died September 23, 1985.
A celebration of Ed’s life will be held at a date and time to be announced. Interment will be in Warren County Memorial Park, Warren, PA.

Montoursville, PA – Motorists who travel on Interstate 80 westbound and eastbound in Liberty Township, Montour County, and Hemlock Township, Columbia County are advised that rolling roadblocks will take place this weekend between exit 224 (Route 54 / Danville) and exit 232 (Route 42 / Buckhorn).

Talking About Health

I would like to take this opportunity to announce my candidacy for Potter County Sheriff. I lived in Potter County for several years after attending college and then moved to Alaska to pursue a career in law enforcement. I started working as a Correctional Officer in a maximum-security prison in Juneau, AK for about 21 months.
In January of 1986, I was hired by the Juneau Police Department as a Patrol Officer. Approximately 4 years later, I was assigned to the Investigations Unit for approximately 3 years.
I was promoted back to the Patrol Unit as a sergeant where I supervised a patrol team for approximately 6 years. I was assigned back to the Investigations Unit, where I supervised major investigations for 5 years. As the Investigations Sergeant, I also oversaw two drug enforcement officers assigned to the Southeast Alaska Drug Task Force. During my time as a sergeant, I participated in numerous supervisory training classes.
My final assignment for the Department was in an administrative position where I restructured the Department’s training requirements and training schedule.
While employed by the Juneau Police Department, I had several ancillary duties. I was an Accident Reconstructionist for 16 years, and I was a member of the SWAT Team for 11 years. I held certifications from the FBI, NRA and the State of Alaska as a firearms instructor, and I was a certified Emergency Vehicle Operations instructor. I held an Advanced Police Officer certification from the State of Alaska and was awarded the Police Medal of Honor in 1993.
In the year 2000, I had the privilege of attending the Southwest Law Enforcement Institute’s, Law Enforcement Management College located in Plano, Texas. I successfully completed and graduated from the intensive 2 month long college level management course geared specifically toward law enforcement management.
After nearly 22 years in Law enforcement, I retired and my wife, Lynetta and I returned to Potter County to raise our twin girls.
I have served Potter County as a Deputy Sheriff with the Potter County Sheriff’s Department since 2016. I am currently certified by the Pennsylvania Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Education and Training Board. I am also certified by the Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission as a Firearms Instructor. I have a clear understanding of the duties of the Sheriff Department. I would be honored to serve the people of Potter County as your Sheriff. Early in my career, I was taught to treat people fairly and with respect. As your Sheriff, I will continue to do so.
The time I served in the corrections environment will aid me in this position as the Sheriff sits on the Potter County Jail Board. My time as a Police Sergeant and management experience will benefit me in carrying out the duties of the Sheriff.
My family attends the Gold Church where I have served as Moderator, Trustee and Chairperson for the building committee while building our new church. I am a coach for the Black Forest Youth Trap Team and have done so for the last several years.
Thank you for considering me for sheriff. I am the only candidate with 28 years experience in law enforcement, of which the last, almost 7 years have been with the Potter County Sheriff’s Department. I am the only candidate that is currently certified with the State of Pennsylvania and will not have to attend a 19 week, residential academy to become a certified Sheriff. Amy Nicole JOHNSON, 33, of Galeton, PA, born October 17, 1989, passed away unexpectedly on April 28, 2023.
Amy was an immeasurable person in many ways. As achingly beautiful as she was–with a beaming smile and sparkling (and often mischievous) green eyes–her heart and brilliant mind were even more stunning.
She was many things wrapped into one small package. She was a gremlin trucker heart, a fierce and loyal family member, and unwavering friend. She was a sharp wit and a lover of knowledge, science, music, and animals.
Amy grew up in Galeton and later attended Pennsylvania College of Technology, becoming the finest nurse a patient could ask for.
She was a soulmate and devoted sister to Melanie (Chad) Shuemaker, a loving daughter to her father, Michael Johnson, doting aunt to Matthew McCullough, and dedicated partner to James Akeley. Amy was also a surrogate sister to a gaggle of childhood friends and a nurturing pet parent.
She is survived by a number of loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Deborah Johnson, who we take comfort in knowing she is with now, and her grandparents.
A gathering to celebrate her life will be held on a future date with her close family and friends.

June C. MASTIN, 56, of Bath, NY, died Friday, April 28, 2023 in Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY.
Born September 11, 1966, in Wellsboro, PA, she was the daughter of Clifford and Mary Ann Johnson Pollock, Jr.
A 1985 graduate of Northern Potter High School, she earned a degree in human services in 2001 from Alfred State College and a medical assistant degree in 2015 from Elmira Business Institute. She was last employed by Pizza Hut.
June’s primary focus was serving as caregiver for her son.
Surviving are: two children, Erica (Asa Crane) Pollock-Hults and Dakota (Angelica Collins) Mastin, both of Bath; six grandchildren, Jayricka, Nevaya, Makenna, Trent, Jonah, and Makenzzie; five siblings, Dennis (Erika) Pollock of Galeton, PA, James Pollock of Mills, PA, Susan Mills of Ulysses, PA, Jennifer (Asa) Drake of Mansfield, and Rosella “Sam” (Martin) Morales of Galeton; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by her parents; a brother, Randy C. Pollock; a nephew, Jonathan D. Pollock; and a niece, Samantha M. Morales.

Aaron A. Culp, age 81, of Galeton, PA, died on Wednesday, April 26, 2023 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on July 27, 1941 in Berea, OH, a son of the late Paine and Evelyn (Wiemer) Culp. Aaron was married for 61 years to Jean C. (Parker) Culp and was a self-employed logger for many years.
He was an avid hunter especially enjoying turkey hunting. He loved taking his family to the movies, photographing wildlife and just spending time with his family.
Aaron is survived by his wife: Jean Culp of Galeton, PA, three sons: Randolph (Linda) Culp, Robert Culp, Richard Culp, all of Galeton, PA, daughter: April (Jim) Cole of Gaines, PA, brother: Valren Culp of Wellsboro, PA, two sisters-in-law: Rose Culp and Shirley Culp, both of Galeton, PA, 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by three brothers: Paine Culp, Kenneth Culp and Theodore Culp.

At 5:17 PM on Monday, Mansfield Fire & EMS have been dispatched for a land rescue for a man under a hay wagon at 1173 Orebed Road. Caller reports man was probably trying to change a tire when the wagon fell on him.
6:20 PM UPDATE: The 61 year old male was extricated from under the wagon, was revived from cardiac arrest and is being transported to Williamsport Hospital by ambulance. Air medical is unavailable due to the stormy weather.
James E. Hannold, 83, of Rt. 646 Gifford, PA passed away Sunday, April 30, 2023, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born July 27, 1939, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Carl Edward Hannold and Ethel (Comes) Hannold-Jennings.
On June 4, 1960, in Gifford, he married Rosemary (Rinfrette) Hannold, who survives.
Jim was employed at KOA Speer for 17 years, Penzoil for 20 years. He retired at the age of 73 from Hydro Carbon in Olean, after 23 years as a well tender.
He was a member of Northern Star Masonic Lodge 555,in Duke Center, Orak Grotto, Coudersport Consistory, the Rod and Gun Club, in Lakewood, and Crosby Sportsman’s Club.
Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, sitting in his garage burning the wood stove, and spending time at his cottage in Chautauqua, and his camp in Westline.
He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Rosemary, one sister, JoAnn Francis, of London, TN, one brother-in-law, Edward Young, of Ft. Michael L. Blaisdell, 31, of 11 Venango Street, Bradford, PA passed away, Thursday, April 27, 2023, at Bradford Regional Medical Center.
Born May 29, 1991, in Bradford, he was a son of Jeffery G. and Joan M. (Parrett) Blaisdell.
Mike was a 2009 graduate of Bradford High School where played trumpet in the band and ran track and field. He attended the Penn State Behrend and played in the marching band. He finished his education at the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford.
Mike was employed by the United States Postal Service in Bradford as a window clerk. He enjoyed being outdoors, and spending time with his friends at the rifle range.
Surviving are his parents, Jeff and Joan Blaisdell, of Bradford, one brother, David Blaisdell, of Bradford, seven aunts, Tina (Darryl) Hilmes, Carla (the late Mark) Hervatin, Elizabeth “Renie” (Terry) Fitzgerald, Ruth (Dan) Whitman, Jan (Rod) Marcellin, Tricia (the late Joe) Lundgren, and Tammy (Jerry) Barrett, and many grand nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Gordon and Marjorie Parrett paternal grandparents, Harold “Skip” and Dawn Blaisdell, and one uncle Thomas Parrett
Family will receive friends on Saturday May 6, 2023, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc. 33 South Avenue, followed by memorial services at 7:00 pm. Burial will be in Lafayette Cemetery.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Hollenbeck-Cahill Funeral Homes Inc.
