Bridge Maintenance & Cleaning
- Route 346 in Bradford Township. Monday, September 11, through Wednesday, September 13.
Pennsylvania has some of the oldest bridges in the country, with their average age being more than 50 years. Preventive maintenance is important in extending the life of the structures. As such, PennDOT maintenance crews perform some bridge deck patching and structural repairs.
STEP DANCING TAKES CENTER STAGE AT PITT-BRADFORD PERFORMANCE

BRADFORD, Pa. – The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford will bring the energetic Black tradition of “stepping” to the Bromeley Family Theater on Sept. 13.
StepAfrika! Is the first professional company dedicated to stepping, and it combines this dance tradition with live music, technology and storytelling. The company will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the theater in Blaisdell Hall on campus. Tickets are $20 for the public and $5 for students. UPMC Welcomes New Medical Leadership to UPMC Cole
COUDERSPORT, Pa., Sept. 11, 2023 – UPMC welcomes Perry Doan, D.O., F.A.C.E.P., as the new medical director for Emergency Services at UPMC Cole, 1001 E. 2nd St., Coudersport.

Dr. Doan received his medical degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his residency training at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Pennsylvania. He is board certified by the American Board of Emergency Medicine and is a Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Louise M. Goodman, 69, of 442 Kansas Branch Road, Duke Center, PA passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at her residence with her husband by her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer disease.
Born June 16, 1954, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Marvin J. and Donna M. (Berlin) Uhl.
Louise was a 1972 graduate of Bradford High School.
On December 11, 1976, in the Sawyer United Methodist Church, she married Ronald A. Goodman who survives.
James H. Master, Sr., 81, of Smethport, PA

James H. Master, Sr., 81, of Smethport, PA passed away Monday (September 11, 2023) at Lakeview Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, Smethport, surrounded by his family.
He was born September 21, 1941 in Coudersport, the son of Harold and Gladys (Hayes) Master. On June 11, 1960, in Indiana, PA, he married Donna J. Berg, who survives.
Jim worked for Quaker State up through their buyout by International Waxes in Farmers Valley.

She was born December 6, 1949 in Clearfield, PA, the daughter of Ralph and Madelyn (Buck) Graham. She has been together with Richard Anderson, Jr. of Mt. Jewett for many years.
Gail was a graduate of Clearfield Area Schools and was the sleep lab coordinator at Bradford Regional Medical Center in Bradford, PA.

Born on January 28, 1954, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Robert O. and Ellen “Mary” (Hopkins) Barnard. She was a 1972 graduate of Bradford High School.
Marie worked as a Residential Program Worker at Evergreen Elm, and prior to that at Woolworth Department Store for 20 years.

Constance Elizabeth BUYSER, 75, of Friendship, NY, formerly of Gloucester County, NJ, died Saturday, September 9, 2023 in Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.
Born September 26, 1947, in Glassboro, NJ, she was the daughter of Harry J. and Elizabeth Mack Stevenson. She was married to John R. Buyser, who predeceased her in 1995.
She was employed as a home health aide for 20 years. Constance was a fan-fiction writer and an astrologer, having her own radio show in Delaware. She made lots of friends and touched the lives of many, no matter where she lived.

Joan Harrison, 83, of Lake Worth, Florida and formerly of Warren, PA, died Sunday, September 10, 2023, at her residence with her brother at her side.
She was born May 28, 1940, in Warren, PA. Joan was the daughter of Richard W. and Barbara Morrison Harrison. She was a 1958 graduate of Warren High School.
She was employed with Penelec as head dispatcher for many years retiring from there. She had previously been employed with Gaughn’s Drug Store as a clerk.

Born on Saturday, April 20, 1957 in Pori, Finland, he was a son of Olli P. Karhio and Sinikka L. Orvokki Karhio Condon. Having been together since September 15, 2001, Finn married Yolonda J. “Lonnie” Somogyi on March 5, 2011 in Ulysses.
Seneca Highlands CTC Student Earns Second Industry Certification
Levi Howard, a student in Mr. Bryant’s Networking and Security shop at the Seneca Highlands Career and Technical Center, earned his CompTIA Network Pro certification on September 5, 2023.

Levi is a junior from the Port Allegany School District. Levi’s certificate is backed by a $1000 employment guarantee, ensuring his skills are workforce-ready.

John L. Pontzer, 92, a resident of St. Martha’s Villa, Downingtown, PA, and formerly of St. Marys, PA, passed away Saturday, September 9, 2023, at St. Martha’s Villa.
He was born February 20, 1931, in St. Marys, son of the late Raymond and Helen Victoria Smith Pontzer, Sr.
He was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of St. Marys Public High School, Class of 1949. John spent most of his working career as an employee and officer of the family business, Corbett Cabinet Company.

Richard L. Townsend, Jr., age 47 of Painted Post, NY passed away on Friday, September 8, 2023 at Robert Packer Hospital in Sayre.
Born August 5, 1976 in Corning, NY, he was the son of the late Richard L. and Virginia (Watkins) Townsend, Sr.
He is survived by his children, Kameron and Kielee Townsend of Lawrenceville and two grandchildren, Elaina and Grayson.
Private family services will be held at their convenience.

Phyllis M. (Youmans) Taylor, age 86, of Wellsboro, PA, died on Friday, September 8, 2023.
She was born on February 12, 1937 in Mansfield, PA, a daughter of the late Raymond and Eileen (Grinnell) Youmans and was married for 63 years to the late William “Bill” Taylor.
Phyllis attended the First Baptist Church of Wellsboro and loved playing dominoes, taking care of others and loved to laugh and joke.
Galeton Fire & EMS Dispatched for Gunshot Victim in Gaines

At 12:20 PM on Monday, Galeton Ambulance has been dispatched to Hanky Panky Road in Gaines Township to assist Pennsylvania State Police with a victim of a gunshot.
County dispatch indicates the suspect in Sunday’s Galeton shooting has a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head but is currently still alive, being transported by State Police side-by-side from a wooded area to the waiting ambulance.
Air Medical transported the wounded man to a trauma center.
An updated news release from PSP Coudersport says simply that Robert M. Wildey is now in custody.
