Pine Pitch, an a cappella singing group based in Wellsboro, hosted a Flood Aid Concert at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30 indoors in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. Raised was $5,034.48 for flood victims in Tioga County, PA

Contributed during the concert were cash and checks totaling $3,404.48 and electronic donations made in advance of the concert were $1,630 or a total of $5,034.48 to help flood victims.
“It was amazing seeing the community engagement and generosity,” said Kacy Hagan, concert organizer from Pine Pitch. “More than 150 people attended even though we had to hold the concert indoors due to the rain. The Deane Center provided us with theater space; Jeff Ahlum provided the use of his sound equipment and volunteered his time to run sound for the event; Kevin Thomas volunteered to serve as emcee; Pine Pitch A Cappella and Joe Callahan and Molly Cary of the House of Sterling performed; and Karin Knaus, a Pine Pitch member who lives in Westfield shared heart wrenching stories about some of the people impacted by the flood water. The outpouring of love from our community was evident.”

Sacred Heart Social Committee Donates to Fr. Eric Vogt Fund at Community Foundation

The Fr. Eric Vogt Memorial Fund was established by his family at the Elk County Community Foundation (ECCF) to help remember his many contributions to the community. As the longtime pastor of Sacred Heart Church, Fr. Eric nurtured both the spiritual and social life of the church and its parishioners.
The Sacred Heart Social Committee recently presented the Vogt family with a donation to honor their friend and advisor while helping to grow the fund which was established in his memory.
Groups and individuals are welcome to donate to the fund which is held at the Elk County Community Foundation. Coudersport Senior Center Soup and Sandwich Luncheon on Monday, September 23
The Coudersport Senior Center, located at 200 Chestnut Street, will hold a Soup and Sandwich Luncheon on Monday, September 23, 2024 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Choose between Vegetable Beef and Chicken Noodle Soup, plus either a Pulled Pork Sandwich or Hot Dog for a donation of only $7.00.
There will be a Bake Sale featuring many delicious desserts, 50/50 Raffle and a Fall Gift Basket Raffle.
All proceeds help the Coudersport Senior Center pay for their operating expenses.

Helen D. POND, 90, of Lawrenceville, PA, died Thursday, September 5, 2024 in her home.
Born June 11, 1934, in Brookfield, she was the daughter of Lynn Wakely and Beatrice E. Tanner Clark. On October 19, 1958, in Westfield, she married Hervey L. Pond, who predeceased her on May 27, 1996. A graduate of Harrison Valley High School, she was employed by Galeton Production and Westinghouse in Bath, NY. Helen was a member of Lady Lawrence Rebekah Lodge and Stony Fork Rebekah Lodge.

Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are possible in the warned area.
Flash flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly. HAZARD…Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms. SOURCE…Radar. IMPACT…Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor drainage and low-lying areas. * Some locations that will experience flash flooding include… Olean, Salamanca, Allegany State Park, Allegany, St. Bonaventure, Weston Mills, Hinsdale, Carrollton, Vandalia, Limestone, Knapp Creek, Kill Buck and Rock City Park.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS… Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
