James “Jim” “Poppy” Charles Mallon, age 70 of Westfield, PA passed away on January 19, 2024 at UPMC Wellsboro surrounded by his family.
Jim was born on November 12, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, to the late John Francis and Josephine Elizabeth (Kephart) Mallon. After graduating from Upper Perkiomen High School in 1973, he worked many jobs including starting and running his own drywall business and most recently was employed by Viant Medical in Westfield.
Jim recently celebrated 50 loving years of marriage with his high school sweetheart Anna Marie Paulik. Together they raised four daughters and one son. Jim had a passion for reading, gardening, baking and deep conversation with his family and friends.
Barton M. GREELEY, 98, of Austin, PA, died Thursday, January 18, 2024 in Wellsville Manor Care Center, Wellsville, NY.

James Roland Scandle, 76, of Wellsboro, PA passed away at home on January 18, 2024, with his wife at his side. He was born on September 17, 1947, to Roland and Margaret (Buggy) Scandle in Shamokin, PA. He married Merry Carol (Herb) on February 5, 1966.
James was an Electrician for many years and was employed by IBEW 607. He was a member of the Galeton Moose, enjoyed hunting and fishing and cutting firewood. James had visited Tioga County since he was in high school and eventually bought a camp and built his home here.
Dolores C. “Dee” Euken, 86, of 522 First Avenue, Johnsonburg, and formerly of Elk Avenue, Johnsonburg, PA passed away early Thursday morning, January 18, 2024, at Pinecrest Manor, St. Marys following an illness of the last several months. She was born in Johnsonburg on September 11, 1937, a daughter to the late James and Rose Judice Cherry. On May 3, 1958, she married Stanley J. Euken. He preceded her in death on May 5, 2006.
A lifelong resident of Johnsonburg, Dee was a 1956 graduate of Johnsonburg High School. She was a member of Holy Rosary Church. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, she loved to read, do crossword puzzles, crochet and later in life make trips to the casino.
In 1999, Dee retired from GTE-Sylvania in St. Marys after 35 years of service.
The PAHS National Honor Society is helping the Port Allegany United Methodist Church with a shoe drive beginning Monday, January 22nd through Friday, February 2nd. It’s a great time to clean out your closets and donate new, slightly worn or gently used sneakers, boots, dress shoes and sandals and send them with a high school student to take to their homeroom. The homeroom that collects the highest number of pairs of shoes will win a doughnut party sponsored by the church. The maintenance staff has placed green recycling bins into every homeroom. The donations of footwear are the only items to be placed in these bins. The bins will be emptied and counted on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Sally J. Conner, 75, of Bradford, PA passed away on Friday, January 19, 2024 at the Pavilion at BRMC.
She was born on July 28, 1948 in Bradford, a daughter of the late Calvin and Eleanor Milks Abrams.
She was the widow of Andrew Conner; who preceded her in death.
She was a talented crocheter who enjoyed growing flowers in her garden and taking care of her houseplants. She especially enjoyed cooking for her family.
She was employed at the former Anderson’s Diner, Bradford, as a baker for several years.

HAZARDS…Several bands of light to moderate snow accompanied by
wind gusts over 30 mph. This combined with recent powdery snowpack
will produce areas of blowing snow and local visibilities below one
mile.
LOCATION AND MOVEMENT…At 321 PM EST, regional radar indicate
increasing bands of light ot moderate snow across the northern half
of central Pennsylvania. The bands have a connection to the eastern
Great Lakes, and are moving southeast at 35 mph.

these snow showers through late afternoon. Rapid changes in
visibility and potentially slick roads may lead to accidents.
A second Vehicle vs Building accident this week in the Borough occurred this morning (1/20/24) at aprx 0726 when SFD was dispatched to JB Distributors on E Water St to find a truck had lost control on ice and crashed into the building. .Engine 24 responded and Capt 230 had command. MA-3 was on scene and confirmed no injuries. The vehicle had minor damage and was able to be driven from the scene. Smethport Borough Police were on scene. All Station 2 personnel were back in quarters at 0810.

Sinnemahoning State Park will be drawing down the level of the George B. Stevenson Reservoir starting Monday January 22nd to complete a rehab project on the dam. The draw down will be no more than 10 feet, and will remain down until the project is completed.
The draw down may create dangerous ice conditions and we recommend that visitors stay off the lake until the project is completed and the lake is restored to normal elevation. We will post updates throughout and notify the public when the lake is back at normal elevation.

Julia Overton-Healy, Cross Stitch Artist, will be teaching a Beginner Cross Stitch class on Wednesday, Feb. 7 from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Potter County Artisan Center. Students are asked to choose two colors when registering. These will be used to create the project, which is the initial of student’s first name. Participants are asked to bring a small pair of sharp scissors. All materials, including the pattern, will be provided.
