Blake Cool is Student of the Week at Seneca Highlands CTC

Blake Cool is a third year senior in the Welding program from Cameron County. Blake has a genuine desire to learn as much as he can in the welding field. He spends as much time as he can under the hood practicing and perfecting his technique. He has shown that he has good leadership qualities as group foreman in the shop. Blake has also started welding out in the field and is really enjoying using his skills to begin earning a living. Blake will be a great asset wherever he ends up in the workforce.

Paul M. Perri, avid outdoorsman and life-long resident of Warren, PA., died unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at the age of 63. Paul was born August 9, 1960, to Frank and Nancy Schultz Perri. He graduated from Warren Area High School in 1978 and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He worked as a contractor building and remodeling houses, prior to retiring.

Pain Management Physician to lead walk on May 2

BRADFORD, PA – Upper Allegheny Health System’s (UAHS), pain management and physical medicine physician, Dr. Joseph Staszel, will be leading the May Walk with a Doc event. The walk will take place on Thursday, May 2 at 5 p.m. This will be a reintroduction to the Bradford community as Dr. Staszel will begin accepting new patients at BRMC starting Tuesday, April 30. His practice will be located at 116 Interstate Parkway, suite 32, Bradford, PA and appointments can be made by calling (716) 701-1707.
The event is hosted by Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and the Guidance Center (TGC) and will take place at Richard E. McDowell Trail on Campus Drive. The walk is free and open to everyone. Prior to leading the walk, Dr. Staszel will be discussing a health-related educational topic with participants. His discussion topic is “lower back pain and sciatica”. An alternate indoor location has been reserved for the event in the case of inclement winter weather. The location is the University of Pitt at Bradford Fitness Center located at 300 Campus Drive, Bradford, PA 16701. PFBC ENCOURAGES ANGLERS AND BOATERS TO ENJOY PLENTIFUL OPPORTUNITIES DURING SPRING AND SUMMER, AWARDS BOATING FACILITY GRANTS, AND MOVES TO IMPROVE SAFETY AND CUSTOMER EDUCATION RELATED TO BOAT RENTAL BUSINESSES

HARRISBURG, Pa. (April 29) – The Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission (PFBC) began its quarterly business meeting by thanking anglers, agency staff, and volunteers for a safe and successful start to the 2024 trout season and promoting the plentiful fishing and boating opportunities that remain throughout the spring and summer months.
“The spring and summer seasons are special times of year in Pennsylvania, where the Opening Day of trout season is only the tip of the iceberg,” said William Gibney, PFBC President and District 7 Commissioner. “We’re grateful to the volunteers who assisted us with stocking trout in hundreds of waters so far and will continue to help us stock over the next several weeks right up until Memorial Day.”
Gibney also encouraged anglers to explore new waters and seek out different types of fishing experiences beyond trout.
God’s Country Chapter of Trout Unlimited will host Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing Event
Project Healing Waters Fly Fishing, initiated and conducted by members of the Federation of Fly Fishers and Trout Unlimited, serves military personnel who have been wounded, injured, or disabled to aid their physical and emotional recovery by introducing or rebuilding the skills of fly fishing and fly tying and by using and enjoying these skills on fishing outings and as lifelong recreation. While initially focusing on the military personnel in the Washington, DC area, the Project has expanded nationwide and is offering its services and program to active military personnel and veterans in the Department of Defense and Department of Veterans Affairs hospitals throughout the country. The Project’s program provides basic fly fishing, fly casting and fly tying classes and clinics for the wounded and injured personnel ranging from beginners to those with prior fly fishing and tying experience who are adapting their skills to their new abilities. All activities and services are provided to the participants at no cost. Fly fishing and tying equipment and materials are provided to the participants, including equipment that accommodates their special needs.
WELLSBORO WOMEN’S AND MEN’S CHORUSES WITH THE WEDNESDAY MORNING MUSICALES AS GUESTS ARE PRESENTING THEIR SPRING CONCERT THIS SATURDAY, MAY 4
At 7 p.m. this Saturday, May 4, the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus and Wellsboro Men’s Chorus are presenting their annual Spring Concert along with special guests, the Wednesday Morning Musicales Chorus, in the United Methodist Church of Wellsboro at 36 Main Street.
The concert theme is “Here Comes the Sun.” The three choruses will sing 21 songs, including Broadway and pop tunes. The concert will end with all three choruses singing “You’ll Never Walk Alone with Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
The Wednesday Morning Musicales Chorus, directed by Diana Frazier with piano accompaniment by Marian Miller, will open the concert. The 34-member group will perform “Favorites from “The Rat Pack” including “You’re Nobody ’Til Somebody loves You”, “Everybody Loves Somebody”, and “Come Fly with Me,” “You’ve Got a Friend in Me,” “Forever Young,” “Sunrise, Sunset” with Dave Driskell on clarinet, and “I Only Have Eyes for You.”
The 26 members of the Wellsboro Men’s Chorus, directed by Christina Simonis with accompanist Pat Davis at the piano will sing “ Gonna Rise Up,” “Once Upon a Time,” “Georgia,” “The Creation,” “My Lord, What a Morning,” “Circle of Life,” with Dave Driskell accompanying on a recorder and “What a Wonderful World.”
The 35 members in the Wellsboro Women’s Chorus, directed by Diana Frazier with piano accompaniment by Judy Smithgall, will sing “Here Comes the Sun,” “When Will I Be Loved,” “My Fair Ladies,” “They Can’t Take That Away From Me,” “Jersey Boys,” “You’ve Got a Friend,” “Don’t Stop,” “Stop! In the Name of Love,” and “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
A good will offering will be taken at the door.
Each of the three choruses welcomes new members. The Wellsboro Women’s Chorus rehearses Thursday nights at the Deane Center and the Wednesday Morning Musicales on Wednesday mornings at the Gmeiner Art and Cultural Center, both in Wellsboro. The Wellsboro Men’s Chorus invites new members who share their love of music and fellowship to participate in community events in area towns and churches. Potter County Artisan Co-op plans events and classes in May
- A Mother’s Day Basket Class is being taught by master basket weaver, Cathy Snyder on Tuesday, May 7 starting at 4:30pm. Students may choose to make an Irish Knitting Basket or Egg Basket. - An Outdoor Photography Class will be held on May 11, starting at 9:00 am until mid-afternoon with Curt Weinhold. This class is for all those who want to improve their outdoor photo skills. Bring cameras, lenses, tripod, and appropriate dress for the day’s weather. Students will meet at the Artisan Co-op and drive about 15-20 miles to the class destination. Class is $55.00. - The monthly Young Artisan Class with Laurie Angood and Danika DeCarlo will be held on Thursday, May 16, from 3-4:30pm. Students will be painting ‘Bear with Trout’ in acrylic on canvas. Appropriate for Grades 2 through 6. Supplies and snack provided. Price of the class is $25.00.

Tia L. Dyne, 33, of Yarnell St., Kane, PA

Tia L. Dyne, 33, of Yarnell St., Kane, PA passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, at UPMC-Kane. Born Sept. 27, 1990, in St. Marys, she is the daughter of Timothy (Emily) Dyne and Shelly (Joe Ferranto) Dyne.
Tia was the epitome of fun-loving, the life of every gathering, and the heartbeat of countless joyful moments. Her infectious laughter and energy lit up every room she entered, making her a cherished friend to so many. Tia had an impact on everyone she encountered. She had the biggest heart and always put others first. She had a unique ability to make others feel seen and loved, even amidst her own struggles.
She enjoyed spending time with her family and oftentimes was the glue that held them together. A true nurturer at heart, Tia was devoted to all her nieces and nephews, as well as her younger sister and brother. She showered them with love and affection and left them with many cherished memories.
In addition to the people in her life, Tia cherished her dogs. She had an immense love for animals and dedicated much time to rescuing and nurturing them.
