Sandy Township Police Department BOLO for Richard William Smeal of DuBois

Sandy Township Police Department
At approximately 1:00 am on June 11, Sandy Township Police were dispatched to the parking lot of Burger King on Bee Line Highway where an employee had been attacked and beaten with the suspect’s closed fists and what appeared to be an AR style weapon. It was later determined the weapon was possibly an airsoft gun.
As the victim was getting into her vehicle the suspect approached her, wearing a black mask with a scull teeth design. He demanded she give him her purse, which contained the night deposit from the restaurant. The victim declined and a struggle ensued. After severely injuring the victim, the suspect fled the scene when another vehicle pulled into the parking lot. He escaped, without the night deposit, to Midway Drive where his accomplice was waiting in a vehicle. The two then managed to elude police but the accomplice, John Lentz was taken into custody Tuesday morning at his home in Penfield.
A Felony Arrest warrant has been issued for 59-year-old Richard William Smeal of DuBois. He is a white male, 5’5”, approximately 145 pounds, with blue eyes, a red/gray beard and thinning (possibly longer) red/brown hair. (Note: the attached photo is 2 years old, so his appearance may have changed) Smeal is believed to be dangerous, and police advise to not approach him. If you know the whereabouts of, or have any information regarding Richard Smeal, please contact the Sandy Township Police Department through Clearfield County Dispatch, 814-765-1533 or 911.
Duck Derby Challenge

Each year the Cameron County Chamber of Commerce hosts a Firequacker Duck Derby to raise funds for the fireworks during Weekend in the Wilds. An anonymous donor who plans a family reunion around the fireworks is issuing a challenge. He would like to see North Broad Street filled curb to curb with ducks.
So far residents have adopted nearly 1,000 ducks. The goal is to reach 1300!. The anonymous donor recently adopted 360 of the quackers in the hope that others will come into the chamber office and lsupport the fireworks with a duck adoption. One duck may be obtained for $2.00 while a 6-quack can be selected for $10.00. The ducks will paddle down North Broad Street with the help of the Emporium Fire Department at 2pm on Saturday July 6.
