FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Disney’s Beauty and the Beast JR. will be performed by the Elk County Council on the Arts’ (ECCOTA) Summer Theater Camp students this Friday, June 28 at the St. Marys Area High School Carpin Auditorium at 7PM. The 60-minute musical, designed for middle school-aged performers, is based on the 1994 Broadway production and Disney’s 1991 animated feature film. The Summer Theater Camp cast includes 58 students led by camp director Mr. Adam Brooks.

Johnsonburg, Pa.: Members of the Rolfe Beagle Club first noticed European Buckthorn at the club in the early 2000s.  “At first, it was just a shrub here or there,” said Jim Pennington, Jr, President of the club, “but then all of a sudden it was everywhere.  Closing in our travel lanes, pushing out our native shrubs, and creating competition for our native berries such as Juneberries, witherods, viburnums, and blueberries.  Nasty stuff.”

The Rolfe Beagle Club has an active wildlife and wood management program at the club, and immediately started to learn how best to manage the buckthorn starting to take over the club grounds.  The first thing club members learned was how detrimental buckthorn was to birds, warblers, and mammals that depend upon nutrition from berries to help them migrate, or make it through a tough winter.  Buckthorn, because it comes from Europe, lacks the same nutrition in its berries that have co-evolved with our native wildlife.  As such, warblers migrating through the club chow down on buckthorn berries and do not get adequate nutrition to complete their migration.  The same negative effect is multiplied for native birds and mammals that stay at the club year-round. 

The Coudersport Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce plans for Food Fun Friday’s to be held at the Coudersport Courthouse Square on Friday, July 12^th, July 19^th, August 2^nd, August 16^th, August 30^th, and September 13^th from 5 – 8pm.

These events will be featuring musicians in the gazebo from 5:30-7:30pm and food truck/vendors will be lined up on East 3^rd Street and be opened for business at 5pm.  We will also be having corn hole and (maybe) other yard games in the square. 

The first night, July 12^th will be Emergency Services Appreciation evening and there are plans to have firemen with a fire truck, and police with a car for anyone to check out!

HARRISBURG – House Republican Leader Bryan Cutler (R-Lancaster) on Thursday applauded the passage in the Senate of legislation he co-prime sponsored with Rep. Kyle Mullins (D-Lackawanna) that would require insurance coverage of biomarker testing in Pennsylvania.

“Today marks a significant milestone for health care in Pennsylvania. This crucial legislation will pave the way for improved diagnostics and personalized treatment options for Pennsylvanians dealing with complex diseases,” Cutler said.

“By ensuring biomarker tests are covered, we are advancing patient care and empowering health care providers to deliver more targeted treatments. House Bill 1754 passed the Pennsylvania Senate unanimously on Tuesday. It now heads to Gov. Josh Shapiro’s desk.

​Clearfield, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reminded property owners that they must obtain a Highway Occupancy Permit (HOP) from PennDOT if planning property improvements that include constructing or altering a driveway that connects to a state highway.

HOPs for driveways are required by Section 420 of Title 36, also known as the State Highway Law. PennDOT urges property owners without one of these permits to obtain one to legitimize their driveway and retain it as evidence of compliance with the law.

Property owners may submit permit applications online or by using a paper application. Visit www.PennDOT.pa.gov, select “Highway Occupancy Permits” from the “Permits” page under “Doing Business” to access PennDOT’s Electronic Permitting System (ePermitting) and submit an online application. Printable versions of PennDOT Form M-950A or M-945A are accessible from the “Permits” page under “HOP-Related Forms.”
