Williamsport, Pa., October 2, 2024 – UPMC welcomes Nancy Abu-Bonsrah, M.D., M.P.H, to the neurosurgery team in Williamsport.
Dr. Abu-Bonsrah completed her medical degree, a master’s degree in public health, and her residency in neurosurgery with Johns Hopkins Hospital, Baltimore, Md. She was the first African American female resident in the history of the hospital’s neurosurgery program.

Moondance: The Ultimate Van Morrison Tribute Concert will be performed live on stage at 7:30 p.m. next Saturday, Oct. 12 in the Coolidge Theatre at the Deane Center for the Performing Arts at 104 Main Street in Wellsboro. This is the fifth concert in the Deane Center’s indoor fall entertainment series being sponsored by Ward Manufacturing and C&N.

Kenneth James Wilson, 84, of Wellsboro, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at his home. He was born January 22, 1940, in Wellsboro, the son of the late Charles and Louise (Knapp) Wilson.
Ken worked as an Equipment Operator for PennDot and prior worked for Walker Tire, Wellsboro. He was also an accomplished carpenter, he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and working on his family farm.
He also enjoyed tinkering and fixing things in his own way. Ken was a member of Coolidge Hollow Methodist Church. He enjoyed scuba diving at Keuka Lake, even though he could not swim.
Barbara Ann Allen Premus, 70, died Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after a long illness. She was born July 11, 1954, in Warren, Pennsylvania to the late Edward A. and Barbara A. (nee McClellan) Allen.
Barbara was a 1972 graduate of Warren Area High School. She graduated with a degree in Computer Science from Edinboro State College. For many years she was employed with Unisys and the New York Office of People with Disabilities.
Alexander J. “Al” Harrison, 82, of Warren, PA., and formerly of Lake Worth, Florida. Al was born June 14, 1942, in Warren, PA. He was the son of Richard W. and Barbara Morrison Harrison. He was a Warre area resident most of his life. He was a 1960 graduate of Warren Area High School. He received an associate degree in Police Science and Administration from Los Angeles City College, Los Angeles, CA., in 1963.
He was a 1973 graduate of Broward County Police Academy, located in Fort Lauderdale, FL. He was employed for 2 years at Hillsboro Beach Police Department and in 1975, transferred to the Lauderdale Lakes Police Department, where he was awarded the Jim Moon Memorial Award as Outstanding Young Law Enforcement Officer, for the. Year of 1976, by the Lauderdale Lakes Jaycees.
C. Louise McLaughlin, 89, of Custer City, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the Bradford Regional Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born December 31, 1934, in Bradford, she was a daughter of the late Hugh and Esther L. (Wolfgang) Coy. She was a 1952 graduate of Bradford Area High School.
Leo A. BAKER, 73, of Genesee, PA, died Wednesday, October 2, 2024. Born April 23, 1951, in Westfield, he was the son of Leo and Marian Virginia Troutman Baker.
A U.S. Army Veteran, he served honorably from May 15, 1970 – December 29, 1971. He was employed as an inspector at nuclear power plants and as an x-ray technician on pipeline construction.
Leo was a member of Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post #963 in Ulysses and Loyal Order of Moose in Galeton.
HARRISBURG, Pa. – The joint Disaster Recovery Center located in Union County will permanently close Saturday, October 5 at 6 p.m.

Luan Woodruff of 1624 Rt. 16, passed away on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 shortly after arrival at the Olean General Hospital.
Luan was born September 23, 1958 in Wellsville and was the daughter of Donald E. and Rosemarie Tarr Matteson Sr. On August 14, 1998 she married her loving husband Leonard L. Woodruff who survives.
Roderick D. Corey, 67, of Coudersport, passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024, peacefully at his home. Known for his rugged exterior, but even more so for the kindness and compassion that lay beneath, Rod left an indelible mark on the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Rod was born on February 11, 1957, in Coudersport, the son of the late Dean H. and Jean L. (Simpier) Corey.Rod was a graduate of Coudersport High School, Class of 1975. He worked alongside his father as a skilled carpenter, helping build many homes in the area, including his own. These early years instilled in him a strong work ethic and pride in creating something lasting with his hands, traits that would carry him through a diverse and fulfilling career in the skilled trades.
