St. Marys, Pa.: The Ruffed Grouse Society (RGS) will be sponsoring a Birds “N” Brews on Saturday, March 1, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the Straub Brew House @Straub Tap House at 444 Brusselles Street in St. Marys, Pa.
Anybody interested in conservation and hunting are invited to attend and talk to members of the local chapter of the Ruffed Grouse Society. Birds ‘N’ Brews, also called Pint Nite, is an opportunity to talk birds and habitat, enjoy the camaraderie and share stories of your passion for upland bird hunting, and tell stories about bird dogs and the birds that are still flying.
Port Allegany Womens Club will be meeting on Monday February 10, at the Port Allegany Senior Center. Soup Supper will be served at 6pm and the general meeting will start at 7pm. The topics to be discussed will be the COTS summer music concerts. Also on the agenda will be filling two offices, Secretary and Treasury. Hope to see everyone there!

Smethport – Cheryl L. “Bean” Rodgers, 74, of Smethport, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday (February 5, 2025) at her home in Smethport.
She was born August 1, 1950 in Port Allegany, the daughter of Alfred and Artie (Bells) Cochran. On April 15, 1967, in Coryville, PA, she married Clyde E. Rodgers, who died January 1, 2017.
Bean attended Smethport Area High School and worked at the Bradford Chocolate Factory in Bradford.
She was a life member of the VFW Post #2497 of Smethport. She loved baking, boating, and spending time with her family.

BRADFORD, PA / OLEAN, NY – Bradford Regional Medical Center (BRMC) and Olean General Hospital (OGH), Kaleida Health facilities, are proud to announce the winners of the February Star Award. This month’s recipients were Kim Murphey, BRMC, and Brenda Gordon, OGH.
Kim Murphey, administrative assistant, BRMC, has been honored as the February BRMC Star Award winner. Kim has been with BRMC since 2021, but employed by the hospital system since 2014.
Please be advised Allegany County Road 36 from W. Washburn Road to Pochuck Road (near the north Allegany County line) will be closed starting Monday, February 10, to replace the bridge on CR 36. There will not be an on-site detour and motorists are urged to seek alternate routes. Thank you for your cooperation.
Johnsonburg, Pa.: Josh Bizzak of Wilcox brought in a beautiful gray fox as the first predator harvested for Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap. “It was so bitter cold last night; I went to two different places and the wind was blowing so hard, I got right back in the truck. Then I went to a field I haven’t been to in a couple of years, and at my second stand, the fox came in within two minutes.”
Twin brothers, Payton and Preston Yeager, were the latest senior visitors to Rotary. They are the sons of Kassie Proctor and Stacy Yeager. They have a younger brother, Parker.
Payton was introduced by Patricia Kujawski. He played football, won the D-9 Championship, is a member of the Varsity Club and worked for the Port Allegany Borough in the summer. His future plans are to possibly work for the borough of Port Allegany, or work in the factory. He also may go to a trade school to become an electrical engineer.
Preston was introduced by Ki Bayline. He was a member of the football teams in grades 7 and 8 and takes woodshop classes. His summer job has been mowing lawns. His future plans are to get a job at the factory.
Edith M. “Edie” COYNE, 75, of Wellsville, NY, formerly of Amherst, died Wednesday, February 5, 2025 in Jones Memorial Hospital.
Born February 15, 1949, in Wellsville, she was the daughter of James and Alice Brewer Davis. In 1972, in Monroe County, she married Martin C. Coyne, who predeceased her on April 24, 2015. A graduate of Scio High School, she also attended BOCES for Secretarial Science. Edie was employed by North American Van Lines in Buffalo as a dispatcher.

Kaydance Beaver – clarinet, Jonah McKeirnan – clarinet, Kendra Meade – clarinet, Alayna Palmer – trumpet, Delaney Stromberg – tuba, and Trace Kazimer – percussion represented Port Allegany at the Tri-State Band Festival at Mercyhurst University February 6-8, 2025. The students audition for chair placement and then work with a guest conductor in preparation for a public concert on Saturday afternoon. Dr. Scott Meier of Mercyhurst is the host with assistance from the music majors of the university.
