ADM Recalls Select Pelleted Cattle Nutrition Feed Products

Specific lots may contain elevated or deficient levels of nutrients which may be harmful to cattle
CHICAGO, March 5, 2025 – ADM Animal Nutrition, a division of ADM (NYSE: ADM), is recalling specific pelleted animal feed products because they may contain elevated levels of copper or have levels of zinc below the represented amounts which could be harmful to cattle.
Possible impacts of chronic copper toxicity include: gastroenteritis characterized by anorexia, signs of abdominal pain, depression, lethargy, diarrhea, and dehydration. Possible impacts of zinc deficiency include: decreases in feed intake, feed efficiency, and growth.
No illnesses or deficiency impacts have been reported to date.
GAME COMMISSION APPLAUDS SUNDAY HUNTING BILL

Legislation that could fully repeal Pennsylvania’s Sunday hunting ban has been reintroduced in Harrisburg.
Sen. Dan Laughlin, R-Erie, this week reintroduced Senate Bill 67, which would end the state’s prohibition on Sunday hunting and allow the Game Commission to include Sundays when establishing hunting seasons annually. The bill picked up momentum last year, when it passed the Senate and gained preliminary approval in the House of Representatives before time ran out in the legislative session.
Last Day Coyotes at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap
Johnsonburg, Pa.: Second-trip predator hunters from St. Marys, Elk County, helped round out the last day of Rolfe Beagle Club’s Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap by bringing in coyotes to the weigh station.
Jim Miller hunts private lands in Elk County and successfully called in a 27.2# male coyote with a FoxPro electronic call over the weekend. Jim shoots a .22-.250 rifle with a thermal scope.

Michael A. Pura, 77, of 219 Powers Ave., Johnsonburg, passed away late Wednesday evening, March 5, 2025, at Penn Highlands-DuBois following a lengthy illness. He was born March 16, 1947 in Ridgway, a son to the late Michael and Clara Lovas Pura. On June 1, 1968, in Holy Rosary Church, Johnsonburg, he married Carol A. Dunworth, and she survives.
MIDDLE CREEK TO LIFT ACCESS RESTRICTIONS

Beginning Saturday, March 8, visitors to Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area again will have regular access to the property.
The Game Commission in early February closed public access to several locations at Middle Creek, including the popular wildlife-viewing area Willow Point, due to concerns about highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI), which at the time was being detected in increasing numbers of wildlife species and locations statewide.

The Potter County Farmers Market will have the annual Spring organization meeting March 18th at 5 pm at the Riley Gallery on Main Street in Coudersport, Pa. This is a time for us to get together to discuss the spring, summer schedule and make any new decisions for the good of the market and expansion. We will talk about the revitalization of the square across from the jail. Anyone who would like to rejoin or new vendors are very welcome as well as our current vendors. Three Port Allegany Students Medal At The Special Olympics Swim Meet

The 2025 McKean County Special Olympics Swim Meet was held at UPB on February 28th. Port Allegany had three participants at the event, all students at PAES. They are pictured (left to right) Braelyn Corey, Cameron Ernst and Brooke Schelander. Braelyn placed 2nd in the Butterfly 25 yard; 1st place in the Breast Stroke 25 yard; and 1st place in the 50 yard freestyle.
Brooke Schelander took first in the 15 yard kickboard, 15 yard unassisted swim and 25 yard float. Cameron Ernst took 2nd in the 15 yard assisted swim; 3rd in the 15 yard float and 3rd in the 15 yard kickboard.

Donald G. Felmlee, 84, of 426 Congress Street, Bradford, PA

Donald G. Felmlee, 84, of 426 Congress Street, Bradford, passed away at Wednesday, March 5, 2025, at Bradford Ecumenical Home.
Born on June 14, 1940, in Bradford, he was a son of the late Donald Felmlee and Ida Mae (Henderson) Reed, he was raised by his mother and stepfather, the late Kenneth L Reed. He was a 1957 graduate from Bradford High School.
On January 3, 1958 he enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served in the Bay of Pigs Invasion. During his service he was an Airplane Mechanic with the 431st Air Refueling Squadron. He was honorably discharged on May 25, 1962.
Registration For Northwinds Overnight Camp Is Now Open

Registration for Northwinds Overnight Camp is open now! Youth ages 8-13 from Potter, McKean, Elk, Jefferson, and Cameron counties can join the 4-H program in a three-day, two-night experience that focuses on building life skills and meaningful friendships. Campers will participate in hands-on workshops, engaging group programs, and be supervised by trained volunteers and staff.
Interested youth and their families are invited to learn more about Northwinds Camp at our Open House event hosted at the Potter County Extension Office (1 N. Main Street, Room 216, Coudersport PA 16915) on March 25th and 27th from 4 – 6 PM. Families can ask questions, talk to camp staff, and register in-person that day.
Northwinds Camp is taking place June 12-14 this year at Camp Penuel East in Eldred, PA. Registration is $50 for 4-H members and $80 for non-4-H members.
