The Roulette Township Supervisors will be holding a special meeting on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, at 4:30 p.m. The meeting is being held to open aggregate bids and quote for 2022 audits.
Frey and Bixler Set Records at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Predator Hunt or Trap
Johnsonburg, Pa.: Freddy Frey is a well-known predator hunter. Freddy and his hunting partner Josh Bixler both set records over the weekend at Rolfe Beagle Club’s Statewide Coyote and Fox Hunt or Trap.
Freddy registered 10 red foxes from farms in Somerset County. The previous high total for number of foxes harvested at a Rolfe Hunt was set by Freddy himself and Steph Conto in September of 2022. The red foxes ranged in weight from 6.4# up to 13.4#. Freddy brought in six male and four female red foxes, coming from Somerset and Lancaster Counties.
Freddy’s 13.4# female red fox also set a record for the largest female red fox ever harvested at a Rolfe Hunt.
Josh Bixler brought in three foxes: a 13.8# male red fox from York County; a 10.2# female red fox from Lancaster County; and an 8.6# female red fox from Somerset County. The 13.8# male red fox also set a new record for weight at a Rolfe Hunt. The previous weight record for a male fox was set by Jared Kuleck with a 13.0# male red fox in 2019.
Freddy and Josh hunt together and use a thermal scope with an electronic call. They also shoot with suppressors. Freddy shoots a .223 caliber rifle, and Josh harvests with a 6 mm ARC rifle.
In addition, Freddy harvested a 34.0# male coyote from Somerset County and a 27.6# female coyote from Fulton County.
Hunters are reminded that Rolfe Beagle Club will be holding their 101h Annual, Statewide, 10-Day Coyote and Crow Hunt from August 30 to September 9.
Stuffy Sleepover at the Library children’s program
Monday, February 20, 2023
Pull out those pajamas and get ready to party, because the Barbara Moscato Brown Memorial Library is excited to bring you our first ever, Stuffy Sleepover at the Library, March 10 from 5-7 pm.
Children are invited to wear their pajamas (optional) and bring their favorite stuffed animal (no oversized toys please) to the library for an evening of activities and stories. Please only bring one stuffed animal per child attending. Extra stuffed animals will be on hand for those who are too nervous to leave their friend behind.
The evening will start off with hot cocoa and cookies while kids “check in” their stuffed animals for the evening. This will be followed by a story about stuffies, a parachute game, pillowcase craft, and another night time story before tucking in their stuffed animals for the night.
Children will be able to pick up their stuffed animals any time on Saturday and will receive a “Certificate of Achievement” and pictures of their stuffies’ nighttime shenanigans, along with their decorated pillowcase.

‘American Voices’ Readings Today at Coudy Library
Coudersport Public Library will present “American Voices”, an evening of readings featuring short stories by classic and contemporary American authors, on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at 6:30 p.m. at the Library.
Genres will include Classic, Horror, Cowboy, Poetry Impressionistic readings, led by local readers. This event is geared for a high school age through adult audience. All are invited to attend, discover new authors and revisit old favorites.
This is a free event; donations to support the Library’s general operations are always welcome. Refreshments will be served. Cameron County Children and Youth Services has an opening for a full-time County Caseworker position. Caseworkers provide a range of case management services to children and families to ensure the safety and well-being of children.
Salary: $37,000 (with a $2,000 increase upon completion of training and promotion to Caseworker 2)
Requirements:
A bachelor’s degree which includes, or is supplemented by 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences OR a combination of experience and training which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences, and one year of experience performing paraprofessional case management functions.

Individuals enrolled in this program would enter into a contract with the agency to continue employment following their studies for a period of time.

JoAnne M. Estus, 72, of Ridgway, PA.
JoAnne M. Estus, 72, of Ridgway, died on Saturday, February 18, 2023, at her residence.
She was born on April 6, 1950, in Ridgway, a daughter of the late Sherman “Beanie” and Lena Assalone Russell.
JoAnne was a lifelong resident of the area and was a member of St. Leo Magnus Church. She worked at the Ridgway Record, Ridgemont, and Girton’s Greenhouse. She spent her free time doing puzzles, playing bingo, and taking trips to the casino.
JoAnne is survived by her husband, William P. Estus of Ridgway, 2 children: David Zawatski of Johnsonburg and Denise Zawatski of Ridgway, a sister in law, Dee Russell, a niece, Renee, and a nephew, Brian.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Russell.
Services for JoAnne M. Estus are being held privately by the family.
Burial will be at St. Leo’s Cemetery.

Roy A. Nickerson, 71, of Coudersport,
Roy A. Nickerson “beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother; and friend to all”
Roy A. Nickerson, 71, of Coudersport, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side, on Sunday, February 19, 2023, after a long illness.
Born on Monday, July 16, 1951 in Wellsville, N.Y., he was a son of Alfred A. and Martha Greenman Nickerson. On August 14, 1971 in Scio, N.Y., He married Ann M. Gordon, who predeceased him. On June 1, 2013 in Rixford, N.Y., he married Faith M. Crowner, who survives.
Roy was a graduate of Wellsville (N.Y.) High School. He was employed by the former Reach All Tree Service in Wellsville. For approximately 10 years, Roy was employed by Bull Rogers Well Drilling Company in Perryton, Texas. He was also employed by Summit Insulation in Rochester, N.Y. where he worked as an asbestos abatement specialist. After being involved in a car accident, he was a supervisor for log cabin construction.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and prospecting for gold in Georgia. He also enjoyed restoring vintage cars and gardening. Roy’s greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; his mother, Martha Feick of Port Allegany; three children, Tina (Mike) Main of Port Allegany, Tressa (Shawn) Ahearn of Coudersport, and Roy “Bud” (Chrissy) Nickerson, Jr. of Port Allegany; a stepson, Roy “Scooter” Crowner of Coudersport; a stepdaughter, Robin Baez of New Hartford, N.Y.; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred (Margaret) Nickerson of Dansville, N.Y.; four sisters, Dawn (Rick) Tompkins of Duke Center, LuAnn (Don) Hallock of Cuba, N.Y., Charlotte (Dan) Green of Belmont, N.Y., and Brenda Wade of Cuba, N.Y.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and first wife, Roy was predeceased by a great-grandson, Roman Harmon; and a brother, William Nickerson.
In keeping with Roy’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Mike MIller, 77, Of Warren, PA.
Mike was a wonderful guy. He was a loving husband to his lucky wife, Diane, whom he married on Oct. 23, 1976. He gave her a great life and made her happy every day. They did everything together and never stopped holding hands. People often remarked about it.
Born in Corry, PA on April 11, 1945, the eldest son of Elbert and Hilda Kile Miller, Mike moved to Warren as an infant and spent his whole life here. He was mechanically and musically inclined. He always spoke glowingly of the great Harry Summers and how much he benefacted from Mr. Summer’s influence. Following graduation from high school in 1963, Mike worked 2 years at the state hospital. He then enlisted in the United States Air Force, serving an extended tour of duty in Vietnam at Phan Rang as a crew chief for F-100 Super Sabres. He was proud to do his duty and maintained enduring friendships with his Vietnam buddies.
After being honorably discharged from the military, Mike earned a degree in English from Gannon University, graduating in 1972. He established Miller Motorcar Company that same year, successfully operating his business until retiring in 2013. He thought the world of his colleague, Keith Naegeli, and truly enjoyed working hard beside him. People may remember driving by and seeing the two of them enjoying Diane’s home-made cookies, out on the bench on pleasant afternoons at 3:00. They were a team.
Mike served 2 terms on Warren City Council. He was a past member of the Conewango Club, where he got a kick out of the older crew and the stories they would tell. He and Diane volunteered together at Paws Along the River and loved the opportunity. He was great with those homeless dogs and never left until every single dog had been out, played with and treated to a hot dog and maybe a chewy. It was a lot of work, but the pets were appreciative. He was always grateful to Karen Kolos for being so good to all the animals.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, his younger brother, Timothy, and his sister-in-law, Debbie Loomis.
He is survived by his bereft, loving wife, Diane Thomas Miller, who dearly wishes a cure would be found for Alzheimer’s so fine men like Mike could live out their days without suffering. Also surviving is his brother-in-law, Marty Loomis, who was a wonderful source of help and comfort during this difficult illness, as well as a nephew Alex Loomis (wife Meredith) and niece, Kaitlyn Johnson (husband Brian) and darling great-nephew, Blake.
Sincere thanks to the Donald E. Lewis Funeral Home for their caring assistance and professionalism. The compassionate care hospice provided was very welcome. Their visits were conducted with dignity and left Mike clean-shaven and handsome. Huge gratitude also goes out, from the bottom of our hearts, to the loving, kind, dedicated, extremely hard-working and sweet staff at Cambridge Warren. What a magnificent crew, each one of you. We love you all.

On November 14, 1932, in Harrisburg, he was born a son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Bowers.
In 1961, he married the late Alyce Blair Bowers.
Roger served in the U.S Air force during the Korean War. He worked in insurance most of his life. Roger spent his free time golfing and fishing.
He is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Cerequas, 2 grandchildren, Emily and Christopher Cerequas, and 2 sister in laws; Margaret Strandberg of Ridgway and Marth Blair of Cape Elizabeth, ME.

Dylan Andrew Floyd, 16, of Cherry Hill NJ, formerly of Bradford, died February 10, 2023, at Cooper University Hospital in Camden NJ.
Born June 9, 2006, he was a son of Douglas Graves and Starletta Lucas.
He attended Floyd C. Fretz and was currently a Junior at ADH High School in Cherry Hill.
He enjoyed playing XBox, mountain biking, swimming, art and photography, skateboarding, listening to music and helping others.
He is survived by his adopted parents, Rev. Barbara “Shelly” Floyd, of Bradford, and Rich Levine and Drew Shiffer of Cherry Hill NJ, one sister Gabrielle (Steve) Kelley, of Bradford, six brothers, Douglas Karns, of Bradford, Cory Floyd, of Curwensville, Nick Levine Shiffer, Andy McKay Levine, Kerry McKay Levine, and Nick Tomasello, all of NJ, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Vincenza M. “Dolly” Smith, 74, of 913 S. Michael Street, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at the Lutheran Home at Kane.
She was born September 8, 1948, in St. Marys, daughter of the late Anthony and Vincenza Iozzo. She was a lifelong resident of the area, a graduate of Johnsonburg High School, Class of 1966, and was a former employee of Stackpole Carbon, Pure Carbon, Palumbo’s Meat Market, and Elk Haven Nursing Home, where she was a cook.
On April 3, 1987, in Coudersport, PA, she married the late, William R. Smith, Jr., who preceded her in death on January 1, 2008.
Dolly is survived by her son, William Christoff, Jr and his wife Corine, of Wilcox; three grand-children: Calvin Christoff (Allyson), Molly Christoff, and Eric Christoff; two brothers: Bruno Iozzo and his wife Josie, of Coatsville, PA, and Sam Iozzo of Kersey.
Along with her husband and parents, Dolly was preceded in death by her sister, Theresa Green, and her brother, Nick Iozzo.
She was a member of the Queen of the World Church. She was dedicated to her daily walks with her girlfriends and would commit to six miles each day. She enjoyed the outdoors and could often be found feeding the birds and the squirrels around her house. Above all else, family was most important to her and cherished each moment with them, especially her grandchildren.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 11:00 AM at the Queen of the World Church with the Rev. Jeffery Noble, Pastor, celebrating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery.

Henrietta M. “Muffie” Cheatle, 77, of 233 Muenster Road, St. Marys, passed away Sunday, February 19, 2023 at her residence, after a lengthy illness, with her family by her side.
She was born August 28, 1945 in DuBois, daughter of the late Henry and Ruth Shriner Chileski. She was a lifelong resident of the area and was a graduate of Bennetts Valley High School, Class of 1963. Muffie was a former employee of Clarion Sintered Metals in Ridgway.
On June 8, 1968, in Virginia, Muffie married Thomas E. Cheatle, who survives. They shared more than 54 years of love and happiness.
Along with her loving husband, she is survived by her daughter, Cheri Cheatle of St. Marys; three brothers: Andrew Chileski (Rena) of Byrnedale, Alan Chileski of Ridgway, and Frank Chileski (Pat) of St. Marys; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews; and by her puppies, who meant the world to her.
Muffie was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church and was a tremendous advocate for Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis.
A Funeral Service will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday, February 24, 2023, at 11:00 AM, with the Rev. Thomas More Sikora, OSB officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Mount Zion Cemetery.
Visitation will be held in the Lynch-Radkowski Funeral Home on Friday morning, from 9:30 AM until the time of the service.

Mary Nicklas, 88, formerly of N. Michael Street, St. Marys, PA.
Mary Nicklas, 88, formerly of N. Michael Street, St. Marys, passed away on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at Pinecrest Manor following a lengthy illness.
Mary was born on November 2, 1934 in Johnsonburg, PA, a daughter of the late Andrew and Margaret Solomon Santaniello.
On June 5, 1954 in Holy Rosary Church, she married the late Earl C. “Snuffy” Nicklas, who preceded her in death on September 2, 2009.
Mary graduated from Johnsonburg High School and was a member of the St. Marys Church. She retired from Sylvania after many years of service. Mary was a talented seamstress who spent a lot of time over the years sewing and doing alterations. She also enjoyed walking, reading, and her rock garden. She also loved tending to her garden and cooking for her family, especially her famous spaghetti sauce.
Mary is survived by 6 children; Steven (Loretta) Nicklas of Ridgway, Julie (Rick) Bish of St. Marys, Christine (Roger) Bennett of AL, Leslie (Mark) Sporner of St. Marys, Mark (Veronique) Nicklas of TX, and Wesley (Lela) Nicklas of CO; and by 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
She is also survived by 3 sisters; Cecilia Weaver of OH, Dolores (Bruce) Lindgren of Johnsonburg, and Rita Gahr of St. Marys, as well as by numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Mary was preceded in death by a grandson; Brandon Nicklas, by 2 brothers; Tony Santaniello and Andrew Santaniello, Jr., and by 5 sisters; Ann Struble, Kathy Wilson, Betsy McClain, Valerie Santaniello, and Theresa Bauer.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Nicklas will be celebrated on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at 10:00 AM at St. Marys Church, 315 Church Street, St. Marys, PA 15857 with Fr. Thomas More Sikora, OSB, as celebrant.
Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery.
There will be no public visitation.
